hello wondering, dirtfarmer here

The count keeps going up. There are 4 now. The thing that I know about bacon is that it's fat is good. Maybe I should have added "GOOD TASTING FAT." I also like country cured ham. It is good when it is fat, or should that be thick? My problem is that my mouth has not slowed down with my metabolism. I guess that I need to trade my shovel in for a spoon.

There is a diet that I read about that was supposed to be biblical that included fats. That is probably the one that daninthelionsden

LOL

I sure hope it's the diet with fat. Could you imagine life without bacon!!!
It even makes everything else you put it around taste good.
That goes for butter and heave cream too.
Here's hoping they're all good fats or I'm in trouble...

As far as the shovel to the spoon ---
Don't do it all at once. The body might go into shock.
Cut back a little at a time...
Maybe you could trick yourself?

Do you know the story of the donkey?

Actually, eating fat is not unhealthy. In moderation of course. There are diets that focus on fats. It starts with the letter K. Your body doesn't automatically take the fat you eat and store it. It burns it. Those diets use that and in return your body takes its stored fat and uses it for fuel.

Of course, if your consuming more fat that you can use then your body isn't going to go to the reserves and use them.

Your body produces fat from all foods. Anything it can't use, and some of the bad things your body doesn't filter out, gets stored as fat. I forget the process, but you do have to watch out if your prone to cholesterol. Your body produces cholesterol when you eat certain foods and your body produces a chemical that combines with the chemicals in that food.

It's really pretty amazing. And modern science has come a long ways in understanding how the body functions. We still carry over a lot of myths from the old days when we did not understand how things work.

I like bacon too. So put me on that list. I raise a couple of pigs each year to butcher in the winter. They are very efficient food to meat converters. much better than store bought pork in my opinion. They will eat just about anything you give them which is one reason why I think they were said to be an unclean animal.

We feed them good stuff, pretty much anything we would eat. I do give them the left over fish carcasses from my fishing trips. It's interesting to go back out the next day and not even be able to find a scale left.

hello Nathan, dirtfarmer here

One of my sons hunts a lot. Every year he gets me a wild boar. Wild boars don't have a lot of fat , I guess it is because they eat acorns and roots that are wild. I had rather have wild hog more than a domesticated one. Also I don't have to "slop" them everyday.

Your correct. They have to work for their food.

I have hunted them before, Arkansas wild hogs, and did get one. They are very destructive.

I might look to the bible verses for advice on food and what God says is good and bad.

Ok, God told every family to eat a whole roast Lamb and leave nothing untill morning, that sounds good to me. :biggrin2

Is bacon a "good" fat??
Please let me know.
I'm waited with baited breath...

My wife reports a few of the recipes do indeed have bacon, BUT.....she said the recipe requires no-carb bacon......never heard of such a thing and my wife said she looked over the packaging nutritional list and found some bacon has carbs.....live and learn.....never woulda thunk.

My wife bought heavy cream. She said I am to use it in my coffee. No more Italian sweet cream and sugar.

Tonight for the diet we had Zucchini noodle chicken alfredo. I generally don't care for alfredo sauce and always considered it "girly food" but I have to admit tonight's was great. I think I haven't liked alfredo because we have only eaten it in jarred form or in some frozen Stoeffer's dish. But my wife made the alfredo sauce from scratch according to the recipe and I scarfed it down. The zucchini noodles were great. I eat off a mini paper plate to keep my portion size in check. Yet I still feel satisfied 4 hours later. Hope my weigh in Saturday shows some kinda loss.

OK. My first weigh in on this new diet and its not even fully implemented yet. I lost over 4lbs in 1 week. We'll keep at it and see what happens. This is the first diet where I feel I can do this. The meals are just rich and filling enough to where I don't feel I'm being starved through it.
