My name's Jeremy, I don't go to church on sunday but always relax then anyways. I wasn't raised with the church (despite my name) though I still consider myself christian.

I know God is real, and I'm scared of him, and always trying to see the lighter side of things, but I have a lot of shortcomings and issues in real life.

Jesus is always there forgiving sins and in faith of him my spirits rise a bit.

Welcome,
A lot of people are scared of God. It's not a bad thing either to have a healthy respect for someone who can erase you.

Some people don't fear God enough. And usually it's their undoing.

But God is good. God is so good He is what we call Holy. Loving kindness is foremost in His mind. But He is also Holy.
Holiness isn't just a state of being and static, it has a reaction to error...A violent one. So...Yes, having a healthy respect for God is good.

And how exactly do you define "good"?
Can you do it without God?

Maybe you should stick around for a while and ask questions. We're happy to help.

Hi, Jeremy ... welcome to CFnet :wave2

While it's good to hold our Lord God in awe, for He is indeed mighty, I view our Lord God as Father. He is loving, merciful, and blesses us with His grace. As His child, I know He won't 'smite' me when I slip up, nor will He be too harsh in His corrections as I grow. I'm aware that when those corrections occur, they are to strengthen my understanding and to mature my walk with Him. I'm also aware that when it feels like I'm running into a brick wall, it's because that 'door' does not lead to the path I am to travel.

Hope you enjoy your time in fellowship with us !

hello Jeremyj, dirtfarmer here

Going to Church doesn't bring salvation. Knowing that God is real doesn't bring salvation either. Salvation come from believing(knowing) that Christ died in your place and paid your ransom for sin that God requires.

If you knew God as savior you would not be "scared" of him, but would love him because he first loved you and was willing to give His Son as your substitute sacrifice for the sin debt that you owe. God requires that the soul that sinneth , it shall die. This is not physical death but is being spiritually separated from him. The only way to have peace with God and have his peace dwell in you, is to establish a relationship with Him. That relationship can only be established by faith, relying on, in His Son who willingly died the death that God requires, which is eternal separation from him. Jesus Christ died for( in the place of) the whole world. The way that salvation is imputed to you is by believing, having faith, that Christ died for you in your stead.

Welcome Brother Jeremyj, welcome to this Christian fellowship. God has a way of working in us to get our attention and learn of Him, and the shortcomings you mention will fall away soon enough. May God richly bless you among us in Jesus' name. :wave2

Hello jeremyj,

Nice to see you here.
It's improvement that counts. It says in the bible we are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory. It is a proccess. I vow in my mind that 'I will never do that again, then....whoops! But it does happen less and less. Since God talks to me, He hasnt scolded, convicted me yet because He knows I know it isnt right and with the power of the Holy Spirit I have gained ground. I always ask Him to remind me to pray instead of reacting in that ugly way.
I didnt have enough fear of God, I hate to say. But I am learning to obey Him. Been learning ALOT in the last few years. He loves me so much He doesn't let me off the hook.
