So.... I used to be a runner, but the doc told me to stop if I couldn't control my heart rate. So, lady year I purchased a road bike and I'm absolutely loving it!

2 weeks ago I bought my wife a Specialized "roll " and our longest ride together was 7 miles and she felt great. I could never get her to run with me, but with her new bike she loves going out.

I can click off 20 miles, but mostly because I have a good bike. It's comfortable and fits me well. It's also a Specialized.

Hi,

I run and bike, my bike is a trek. I run between 3-7 miles, and ride my bike between 15-30 depending on time.

Do you go off trail or city trail?

Nice! I wish I could trust myself running, but I enjoy it too much and can't seem to keep my heart rate below what the doc wants lol.

Instead, I walk about 45 Minutes each day at lunch and bike 3 times a week.

I have a road bike, so I try and avoid dirt when I can lol. My wife's Roll does really well on the dirt. We rode just under 4 miles with the grandkid last night and most of that was gravel road. I cringe every time a rock gets spat out the side of the tire!

Haha I am laughing about your gravel comment.
It sounds like you get a lot of exercise.
We have off road bike traios, with ramps and narrow road ways that are about 5 or so ft off the ground. I guess you wouldn't like those if gravel makes you cringe. lol

Mostly I ride in the city on trails because I have to talk someone jnto driving me to the other.

I prefer jogging and will miss it if I don't go for a couple of days.

Ha, have you ever heard a rock get spat out of a skinny tire that's inflated to 80 psi? Lol, I wouldn't want to get hit by one! They really zing!

I'd like to get a nice trail bike, but I'm afraid it would put me in the same situation as running. I'd get too excited and my heart rate would go too high.

I have an aneurysm so the doc doesn't want my heart rate above 155.... and I don't feel like dying yet Lol! I do miss running. I've put on 10 lbs since I stopped.

I am happy to know that you are still living a healthy lifestyle and that your wife is supportive. I also go on a bicycle ride every weekend.

Thanks!
My wife and I went to northern Michigan last weekend and road a bike trail that used to be the old train tracks. It was a beautiful ride.
Unfortunately we started on the wrong end lol. Round trip was just over 15 miles. The first 7 was all downhill.... coming back was all uphill.

Because it was an old railroad, it was at a very slight grade, but it really wore on my wife on the way back.

Sunday we took a really nice 8 mile ride in Midland Michigan through a nature preserve. It was stunning!

Do you have nice bike trails in your area?

I have a racing bike and a mountain bike. I'll say as a male that the first thing I bought to alter my two bikes was a seat made for men. These seats help to prevent prostrate issues, and depressed blood flow as results in using the standard bicycle seat.
I'm getting an incline bike soon. It helps greatly with blood flow and exercise is less strenuous than the vertical incline.

.
I have a 1985 FUJI touring Series 4 - 34" frame - 18 speed. I used to ride it 9 miles one way to work every day, and tour on weekends.
I probably haven't rode it in five years, but i may pick it up again one day. We sure have some good bike paths.

That's one thing my knees still allow last time I biked, and then exercise bikes at the gym.

i used to ride my bike to work and home every day - 20 miles round trip - it was good cardio

now i swim laps 1.5 hours a day

Dude, that really sucks. What kind of bike did you have?
I had a Novara 1800 1994 you know one of those cool steel frame ones? It was a REI house model but still cool new wheels and tires.

The world is nothing but chaos.

I love riding my bike in the nicer area. We've got a nice bike trail and it's really nice exercise. I always make sure that I wear my helmet though out on those busy roads, and it's a good thing too. I fell and landed on my head a few years ago. I belive that my bicycle helmet (stylish at that) is what saved my life. And my guardian angel besides that.
