Parents of my mother lived on the same property as my parents. So I had daily access to them. Loved my grandparents dearly. Grandfather was so loving, patient, and a fantastic story teller. He was funny in his own way. As an example, he would buy the newspaper everyday, and after reading the paper he would do his crossword puzzles and read the funnies. If I visited after he read the funnies, he would pretend to read them and laugh to get my attention. He would then give me the funnies to read.

This video clip of Shemp (The Three Stooges) reminds me so much of my grandfather.

My grandmother would make all my cloths when I was under 5 years of age. She would always let me help with the cooking so I could nibble a few peas, pealed apple skins, etc.

But the most memorable I have is when she came home from church. She was the only one from the family that went to church. She would catch the bus to, but walk back from church. I often found her crying as she got home. i would ask her now and again why she was crying. She would say out of love for Christ sacrificing himself for us. And another time she said she always prays for me.

I believe her faith in Christ, and her prayers, has had a part in my intervention with Christ.

My grandfather, on my mother's side, was the most Hog Breeder in Texas and people from all over the world to purchase pigs from his repeated and repeatedly Grand Champion Line and he was one of my two favorite people in the world. He had Blue, First Place Ribbons and Purple, Grand Champion Ribbons for his hogs that literally covered an eight by six foot area on his bedroom wall.

He taught me many things but the one I cannot forget, that has never failed me, is pay attention to Pork Bellies Futures because where they go, so goes the world.

My Grandmother Elsie, his wife, was the other and the most influential person in my life. Every time I eat Caramel I think of her, she always had a one pound bag of Caramel Cubes in her purse and distributed them freely to Her Babies! And though they both lved to fish with Cane Poles, she always caught the Biggest Bass and was the most fun to fish with.

My Grandparents on my fathers side were such great inspirations to me. They lived like fifty feet from us so they were a constant in my life. We grew up in the country and they would plant two gardens every year. One for canning from and the other for us kids to snitch from. I have seven siblings so we could destroy a garden, LOL. They both loved the Lord and were the personification of His love and helping others as they instilled that love in us.

My Grandfather in his latter years had arthritis so bad his legs were always crossed as he could not straighten them so he walked with two canes wrapped around his arms. He never let that take control of his life as he amazed me how he could climb a ladder to paint the trim on their house or plant and harvest a garden. Nothing was going to stop him from doing the things that needed done. He always enjoyed us kids being around and Saturday nights a few of us would sit with my Grandparents and watch wrestling or Lawrence Welk show then we had to go home for bed. I remember one time when he had turned the smoke house into a play house for us kids and he would sneak up on us at night when we slept in it and would make animal noises to scare us. We knew it was him, but would run out the door screaming and we would all have a good laugh. Another time we would sneak peas out of the garden and go into the shed to eat them and he would pound on the door like he was mad that we took the peas and then start laughing. He was the kindest man I ever knew.

My Grandmother was always baking, (the wonderful smells from the oven) and canning. If she wasn't doing that she was outside tending to all the beautiful flower beds she had. I loved spending time with her. She was like my second mother. She is actually the one who got me back into the Church after my Grandfather passed. I grew up with a love hate attitude for reasons to long to get into here, but she was always the constant love part of my life (plus my mother). After my Grandfather died she got cancer and I moved in with her to help take care of her until she passed away. We would go to Church together and at home we would sit and talk about Jesus and I loved those moments as she was my spiritual inspiration to know Jesus in a way I never knew Him before. It was through her I learned to love and learned that I needed to get the hatred out of my heart.

I miss both of them so much as they were such a big part of my growing up and I know we will be together again someday.

Brought tears of love to my eyes. Thank you.

My grandfathers,I will start with my dad's side.I am somewhat like him.I have his eyes.he was big on honor ,and sense of military service i carry.he is big on eating at a bbq restaurant.I remember him eating at shivers often and also talking to us about my surname. It's why I later on went to savannah, ga and by doing so felt both grandparents there.I could go into the Jewish nature of them ,but that's another thread.

I have trained where my grandpa did for war.blanding was never the same after he died and I learned of it. It's ashame he passed before I got into ww2 history as a iam.he would have told me things about blanding that only a man of that time would know.

I never saw the word 'blanding' before, I looked it up in the dictionary but seems a bit odd, so I am asking if you could enlighten me with your definition of the word. thanks.
...talking to us about my surname....
This reminds me about the main role in being a grandparent _ to pass on the family history, especially to grandchildren. Grandparents are the remaining ones who remember what it was, and what was passed onto them when they were young.

Camp blanding.a military post in Florida.it's origins go back to ww1

It's an interesting story.in short talking about Jesus, demon possession of crows harrasing.
I used to wake up to crows harassing me every morning.

Then after handing my will and life over to the care of God and Christ, I get a rooster waking me up at sunrise. It reminds me to not compromise my love for Christ.

Evil feeds fear to feed of our fear. Only the fearful become enslaved. We see fear all around us, fear is the rough/dirt all around us.
Love scares evil and fear away, and attracts love and truth to us. Truth and Love are the diamonds in the rough _ the only value in life.

I am big on family ancestry as I have done every side of both grandparents, maternal and fraternal . My family tree on my fathers side goes back as far as 1486 Germany and I ended up with over 500 pages of names and found many pics and stories. They were people who had a heart for God and family.

On my mothers side only got as far back as 1886 Hungary/Romania with my Great Grandfather and found there were many unspoken skeletons in the closet that my cousin would not share so not to many good stories from that side other than they were hugh bootleggers. Never knew my Grandfather on my mothers side as he was first generation Romanian born in America as he died in his thirties, but heard some stories that he was a mean man and drank his life away. My Grandmother was first generation Portuguese born in America and only stood a little under five feet and the few times she would come to visit we were made to go play outside so never really grew up with her or had any fond memories as she was a very stern women in her day and did not put up with anything. She did mellow out when she was much older before she died and I do know she did love the Lord so that is what I keep in my heart for her.

Grandparents on father side was secretive. Recently found out that a brother of grandfather was a spy for Switzerland during WW2. Family name got a slight spelling change about that time too. My father, the only one in his family, immigrated to Australia after WW2. So all ties were basically severed.

Grandparents on mother side are Polish. I have no information beyond my grandmother. Grandfather only told me that he and his brothers were engineers. My grandfather met my grandmother while he was the captain for the Polish soccer team (between WW1 and WW2). She told me he was a big show-off and walked onto the field on his hands, and all the girls went crazy. He was a fabulous story teller, and when he told a story at a party all the women gathered around to listen. My grandmother always felt jealous during those times.

My grandfather was a very generous man in both time, work and knowledge. He was for twenty years the chief safety examiner for speedway cars. Most weekends some speedway car would arrive to have something fixed or modified to it at no expanse. He would research and experiment with the cars to get that extra bit of performance out of them. He did the same for model speed aeroplanes. He would build them and let others fly and test them. Though he will get other peoples cars going in top performance, his own car, though operational, was held together by wire and elastic bands. My grandmother could never understand his passion for engineering (or perhaps spending more time with it than with her). Though my grandmother would get upset with my grandfather, he would not fight with her, he would just listen and bare it, then try make up for it.

I am the last apple on this branch of the family tree. As soon as I drop off that branch will die too. It's unfortunate that I have no family to share this story with, except whoever reads this.

Do you have a library, with a geneology section?

Do you have a library, with a geneology section?
Yes, in Sydney. However, all records are overseas and much was lost during the wars over there. Have paid money to websites which access all sorts of registrars (births, deaths, churches, Cantons, Provinces, electoral, etc). There are names of same spelling. However, when I get to see various genealogical charts, there is no branch with my grandparents name on them.
