Maybe if HE had appeared rich HE would have had quite a greater number of disciples or followers. But majority of them would be eat-HIS-money kind of followers.

This reminds us why the crowd had to gather the other day when they saw Jesus. HE told them they only came because HE fed them the other day. What a motive.

John 6:26-27 NKJV
26 Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. 27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”

But seriously, what if Jesus had appeared a rich man?

well...i dont think it would have ended up the same way. Jesus was all about dealing with sinners, "society's rejects," outcasts, the poor, "the least of these." If he'd been wealthy...my best guess is he would have had an easier time in some respects, but I don't know that The Good News would be...such good news...to those of us who need it the most.

I wonder...if Jesus had been wealthy, would he have been crucified? That was a lowly criminal's way to go, that and people who seriously rubbed rulers the wrong way, treason, stuff like that.

But...Jesus -was- lowly, not regarded as "anything special" in the world, etc....and there's a lot to be learned for us, today, from all that.

interesting post, btw.

Jesus and the diciples were funded by Joanna who was funded by her husband who was funded by the King, so they would have had heaps of cash and supplies on tap.

Jesus did come as a rich man for all the world is His and every good thing in it as He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Richly material things can not dress the compassion of the heart. If God did send him in the image of a rich king that would have not changed His purpose of who He is.

I wonder what happened to all Jesus's Gold.
Rent....
Housing shortages drive up rent.
Where Jesus may have been born in a manger I'm sure that he didn't stay there. Then they moved to Egypt... again another high rent district.
Then the birds they sacrificed for Jesus' birth registration would have been really expensive (money changers schemes).

The money would have been pouring out while coming in slowly.

I disagree, I don't think He would have had many followers at all. At least not millions as the centuries have passed. Poor people can not identify with the rich. Not in the long run, anyway. Sure- Trump has many poor followers, as have politicians before him. But rich leaders do not have millions of followers through centuries.

Buddha gave up all, I am not sure about Muhammed as I know little of other religions.

But seriously, what if Jesus had appeared a rich man?
It would be a conflict with His teaching.

Mat 19:24;Mar 10:25; Luk 18:25 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

Luk 6:24 But woe to you who are rich, For you have received your consolation.

Mat 13:22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil,

Jas 5:1-5 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you! Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days. Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. You have lived on the earth in pleasure and luxury; you have fattened your hearts as in a day of slaughter.

Jesus' family was probably the richest in several hundred miles.... thanks to the visiting Magi.
I have often thought that they used the gold to get to Egypt and live there.
But, yes, Jesus did not come from a poor family.

Mohammad became very wealthy as a "sand pirate" and then as the ruler of Mecca after he led an army to conquer it and forced the monotheistic worship of the pagan god, Allah upon the people.
Is this information from the Koran? I've not yet read it.
