lol. believing in Jesus is different than believing in satan?
I believe in satan with my mind; the English type of believe.
I believe in Jesus with my will and my heart and my mind, the Greek type of believe.

(some, unfortunately DO believe in satan, the Greek type of believe)

I don't agree with that.

What I believe goes beyond hope.
Hebrews says that faith is being sure of what we hope for.
To me it sounds like FAITH is stronger than HOPE.

If I have faith in someone, it goes beyond just hoping that they would do what they said.
If I only hope, how much faith do I have? Not much it would seem to me.
Usted se dice la Palabra para "hope" en Espanol.it's closer to what faith is then our English use.

And since this is a casual discussion...

Why is it that girls are named: Grace, Hope, and Faith and not guys?
Why give someone that name to begin with?

I don't even want to start with "Chastity".

Faith is the middle name of my jaci.

Why Jason?
Esperar. To hope.

Italian....
Sperare... To hope
Credere... To believe
Fede... Faith

Seems the same to me...

Is believing in Christ first....then comes faith,
The same as belief in Christ?

Yes, believing has to come first as even the devils believed in Christ, James 2:19, but had no faith for Christ is our faith in all things we as a child of God hope for.

There are six requirements to Salvation that actually all come at the same time.
1. Belief John 3:15
2. Confession - Acts 2:21; Romans 10:9, 10
3. Repentance - Mark 1:14, 15
4. Faith - John 3:14-18
5. Regeneration - John 3:3-8
6. Holy Scripture - 2 Timothy 3:15

Just sitting here in the Lounge having casual conversation and fellowship.....with myself.
Care to join in?

I was sitting here thinking about faith, belief, and hope.
What is the difference?
Does one have more power than the other?
Can we distinguish between them?
I wonder...I wonder...I wonder...

I hope I have the faith to believe...
I hope I can believe in my faith...
My faith allows me to believe in the hopes I have...
My faith gives me hope to believe...
I believe in my faith to have hope...
I believe ....
Does believe and hope are capatable?
Does one hope stronger than they believe?
Does one believe stronger than they hope?

Is believing in the Blessed Hope brought on by our faith?

So many questions.
What are the answers?

So I sit here having this casual conversation with myself and fellowship with myself, wondering if a truth can be found in these statements.
Would to join in the conversation?
Hi Allen, it's not that complicated (Heb. 11:1) (Rom. 8:23-25) (Rom. 4:18; 8:20) (2 Cor. 4:18; 5:7) (1 Thes. 5:8) (Titus 3:7) (Jeremiah 17:7)

I'm not reading Scripture as an answer.
This is the Lounge, not a Bible study or anything else.
You should be trying to translate those verses to me in a casual manner, unless, of course, it's too much bother.
After all, if one must interpret Scripture themselves, then why post it at all?

Devils, which are fallen angels, have no hope for the ones who followed after Satan have already sealed their fate.

The meaning of hope to we who are in Christ and He in us is that we have hope based on a feeling of confident expectation in all the promises of God for our well being as God only wants the best for us and will always supply our needs.

???? It was for your encouragement (The Scriptures) You asked questions about hope. Scripture answered them...Sorry? They answered everything you asked. As a pastor / teacher, I have never thought of Scripture or fellowship as casual, but rather encouraging, fortifying and grounding in a common faith among believers. I'm not much of a philosophizer.

who cares?
I don't read that language, whatever it is.
Because using translations and knowledge of what is trying to be said in the bible is wrong?

The idea to wait,to hope in that verb used is the the idea of you know a bus is coming ,yoi simply stand in the right spot waiting for it.English doesn't have a word for that Spanish does.

Allen will answer for himself, but...
Your post shows the o.p. was misunderstood by you...
A.W. isn't looking for encouragement...although it's never too much!
Unless a thread is by someone I don't know, I assume the poster knows the answer to his questions but would like to discuss it or hear other opinions.

I liked the post you refer to, but it's the Road to Romans and not really the subject of the o.p.

Hi FHG

Of course, I agree...
I'd just like to say that not everyone who becomes saved had necessarily read the Bible.
Al ost ten years passed between salvation and Bible, in my case.
And I know of some saved persons who never read it!
