I don't do small talk. never have, never will. get over it. not even in church. I have delved into local church histories in fellowship time, spoke of local church histories that are listed under the maps as colored. that's me.
maybe you should stay away from small talk conversations so you won't depress people

and avoid the fact that the pastors and members are old enough to remember those days? of course a snow bird wouldn't know that. the churches here if they are old black ones will know that and its healing to have "white" people with them. old wounds don't close fast. thanks for encouraging me to basically shut up. in part that is why I often will avoid that time on my bad days.

That would be a relational forgiveness. Hurting your wife's feeling doesn't make her not your wife.
LOL
But it sure would feel like it!
You listen to me, and keep asking her forgiveness if you want your MARRIAGE to last !!
And, of course, she should do the same.

Unlike marriage, salvation is sealed. You can't lose it.

Eph 1: 11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

Also notice we are chosen..we don't choose Jesus...predestined...

you are really misunderstand the Calvinist. He God doesn't make us sin, He doesn't choose to redeem the lost. its His choose. He doesn't have to save anyone, He choose to. that is what they teach and I agree. nothing good in me nor do I deserve to be saved. its all on God
s nature. btw Methodism teaches that you can be Holy and so Holy that you are perfect that is what Wesley taught. its often posted here.
Jason,
I understand Calvinists really well.
That's how I know I don't like this doctrine or theology.

1. God doesn't have to save ANYONE, so He's soooooo nice to save a few.

So there's this lake and 5 people are drowning and God passes by.
Now remember, He's an all-good God and a loving God...

So He throws a rope to two of those people. Not based on anything. He likes the color of their hair or something like that... maybe - who can know for sure?
He lets the other 3 persons drown.
WHY? I thought He was a loving God and a JUST God???

Here's my God:

So there's this lake and 5 people are drowning and God passes by.
Now remember, He's an all-good God and a loving God...

So He throws down 5 ropes for the 5 persons.
He tells them to grab on and He'll save them from drowning.
3 Grab the rope and are saved.
The other 2 prefer not to grab the rope. They're waiting for a boat or something.

So the 3 that wanted to be saved for sure grabbed on.
It was THEIR decision.
God gave them the opportunity, but they didn't take it.

I love my God.

What goes into making a choice to accept Jesus?
Do you promise to tell me what made you choose?
Or THINK you chose?

It could be many different things.
You HEAR the gospel. It sounds nice. You know there must be a God because something must have created everything. Now you know WHO created and you get to know Him.
Romans 10:17

There is something about nature that points to God. Some see it and some don't. It might have to do with our life experiences.
Romans 1:19-20

You feel like a sinner. You know there's a God. You want to become friends with that God.
Romans 3:23-24
Ephesians 2:1

After the above, or whatever the situation might be, we begin to know God better...
1 Corinthians 2:14

Why did YOU become a believer?

And all that has to do with your opinion of John Calvin?
Because you do know that is what this thread is about, right?
Or do you just don't care?

Just quick, must leave:
We were predestined. Yes. TO BE SAVED by God's method.
TO BE LIKE CHRIST.
The purpose of His will is to save mankind because He's a loving God. He made a way for us FROM THE BEGINNING. Genesis 3:15

Paul keeps saying YOU, YOU, YOU.

Who was Paul speaking to??
Did he chase away all the non-believers and speak ONLY to those who were saved?
NO. He was speaking to everyone. The New Testament is for everyone.

Why put together a bible in the first place if God is going to pick and choose who will be saved?
Why witness?
Why send missionaries to their death in many cases if there is no free will?

and verse 14. Read that VERY CAREFULLY.
Do you know what a deposit is?
It is a pledge for something.
Here it means at the resurrection.
We have a deposit that we will receive our inheritance at the resurrection .

Please post which version of the bible you're using since I looked in three and cannot find the word GUARANTEE in verse 14.

Must be the NIV. It agrees with you.
Check out other bibles, and the YLT.
You won't find the word guarantee in any of them.

I don't see that.
Paul talks about "we" and "you".
Can you separate that for me?

Explain His choice of esau prior to birth being forsaken, and the child not of promise .for the elder, esau his nation to serve isreal .

It was prophecied that Esau would serve Isreal before either did Good or Bad. It's said clearly.

Romans 9:11.

Just quick.
Esau gave up his inheritance for a bowl of chili.
God does foreknow the future.

That's judging others.
That's against God.
