And that covers everybody at one judgment.
Matthew 13:24-30New King James Version (NKJV)
The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares
24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ 29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”

separate judgement

Matthew 25:33

“And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.” no Christian will stand in judgment with the Lost

Maybe you can minister to JLB who despite the innumerable scriptures posted, innumerable because I have yet to bother counting and in fact shall not, is unaware of that still.
some folks hold to left field belief . time line i dunno but there is two separate judgement

It is not one judgment. It is two separate judgments for two separate people. Which is why the seats are delineated as the white throne, and the Bema seat.
I am aware of that rather modern teaching.
It was introduced by John Nelson Darby in the 1830's and included the (false, I believe) teachings of two resurrections and two judgments.
From the beginning, the Church taught that there will be one resurrection and one judgment.
Scripture speaks of "THE" judgment, not many judgments.
Mat 5:21-22 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.' But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment.
Mat 12:41 The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it,
Mat 12:42 The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it,
Act 24:25 Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.”
Rom 14:10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ
2Co 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in thebody, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. (See john 5:28-29)
Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment
Jde 1:6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day;

In the same manner, scripture speaks about ONE and ONLY one resurrection.
Mat 22:28 Therefore, in the resurrection, whose wife of the seven will she be?
Mat 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage,...
Mat 22:31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead,...
Jhn 5:28-29 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
Jhn 11:24
Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”
Act 4:-21 Now as they spoke to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them, being greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
Act 17:18 Then certain Epicurean and Stoic philosophers encountered him. And some said, “What does this babbler want to say?” Others said, “He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods,” because he preached to them Jesus and the resurrection.
Act 17:32 And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said, “We will hear you again on this matter.
Act 24:21 ...unless it is for this one statement which I cried out, standing among them, "Concerning the resurrection of the dead I am being judged by you this day.”

And many more.
But NOWHERE does scripture speak of "judgmentS" (plural) or resurrectionS (plural.)

But the whole teaching does make for some very fascinating and spell-binding preaching.

So we're probably not going to agree on those points. We can ask when we get past the pearly gates if we're still interested at that time. (We probably won't care.)

It's standard protocol in forums to link sources from that site something was copied and pasted from. As yours appears to be when books of the bible are shortened, as opposed to someone writing free hand the long version of the book name.
Revelation 20:12 (KJV) And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Revelation 20:13, 15 (KJV) And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works...And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

The salient point is those who die in their sins are judged as that. And those who's name was written in the book of life are judged as other than those who died in their sins.
At the same time? Or separately isn't the issue. That there are two different states after life , the unsaved and the saved, is.

teachings of two resurrections and two judgments.
so jim how do you explain a Resurrection
Revelation 20:4-6King James Version (KJV)
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
1 Thessalonians 4
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. " this clearly shows a separate
Resurrection"

When the scriptures themselves are called into question, it appears that the questioner doesn't know the difference between the destiny of the sinner and that of the redeemed eternally saved in Christ.

There is no question in my mind about this teaching from Jesus.

It's very simple.

At the Bema seat, we will be judged according to our deeds.

Some will inherit the kingdom of God, and some will not.

  • Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: Matthew 25:34

  • Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: Matthew 25:41

Nothing to call into question, just simply learn from what Jesus taught us here.

The reason, that these on His right, inherit the kingdom of God is:

Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
  • for I was hungry and you gave Me food;
  • I was thirsty and you gave Me drink;
  • I was a stranger and you took Me in;
  • I was naked and you clothed Me;
  • I was sick and you visited Me;
  • I was in prison and you came to Me.’

These had a faith that worked by love.

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. Galatians 5:6

James says it this way -

So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. James 2:12

John -

17 But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? 18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:17-18

I agree with you on this point, Remember.

I posted the scripture that deals with the Judgement Seat of Christ, where it is His people being judged, not sinners.

31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

  • Those that are gathered at His throne who are placed on His right hand, inherit the kingdom of God.

However, as you can see, there is among this group that are gathered before His throne, those who do not inherit the kingdom of God.

41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’ Matthew 25:41-43

You might want to consider this important scriptural fact, in your study of this subject.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

No judgement there as we have already been found in Christ and now receive the rewards due us for the works of the Lord we did while on earth.

Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Two different books are opened. One being the Lamb's Book of Life where those who are in Christ and He in them have been found written in that book and will not face the judgement of those written in the other books that were not found in the Lamb's Book of Life and the judgement against them is that are found guilty of rejecting Christ and their punishment is God casting them into the lake of fire.

There are two separate types of resurrections, but only one as one is to eternal life with God and the other being the second death as the sea gives up the dead in it and death and hell meaning those in the grave are delivered up to stand in Gods judgement and judged according to their works and then death and hell are cast into the lake of fire as there will be no more death or need of hell (grave) and then those whose names are in the other books will be cast into the lake of fire, Rev 20:4-15; John 5:28, 29; Rev 11:18.

I'll share this with permission of the authors as I am a member of this site. I do know my baptism and my father in heaven and Jesus Christ. And it is due to that relationship that concern for what is taught by God in his word. God does not change and he is not the author of confusion.
There are plenty of scriptures here also to support all that is said. And in fact has been said here quite a bit and for these many pages.

Soteriology What is the Biblical basis for multiple judgments after death?
It sounds like you're referring to the White Throne Judgment and the Bema Seat Judgment, which are typically believed to be different judgments by Evangelical Protestants.

The White Throne Judgment is described in Revelation 20:11-15. This, to the traditions that believe in the two judgments, is the judgment that everyone faces, where you are judged to be innocent or guilty; whether you will be cast into the eternal lake of fire, or accepted into Heaven.

Revelation 11-15: (KJV) 11 ¶ And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

The Bema Seat Judgment, on the other hand, is believed to be the judgment of rewards to those who are saved, who have in essence, "made it through" the White Throne judgment. It's based on several scriptures scattered throughout the Bible.

There's an article that describes it here, with Scripture references. The page has a copyright notice, so I won't copy sections of it, rather a short summary follows:

Several passages in Scripture indicate that we will receive rewards for faithful service. - 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20 - Revelation 22:12 - Romans 14:10-11 - 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 - 2 Corinthians. 5:9-10 - 1 John 2:28 - Revelation 3:11-12

Both Romans 14:10 and 2 Corinthians 5:9 reference a "judgment seat", which is a translation of the Greek word "Bema". There are arguments from some circles that this term has connotations of rewards coming to athletes competing for a prize. The article I referenced above states it this way. Others argue that these explanations are extra-Biblical and contradictory.

Whether or not there are separate judgments is something that's been debated for centuries. I won't put my own personal beliefs here, as they are flavored heavily by the doctrines I've been immersed in.

However, I will say that from an evangelical protestant perspective, the doctrine of two separate judgments does reconcile otherwise contradictory passages.

  • First, the doctrine of salvation by faith alone apart from works would indicate that our good works do absolutely nothing to earn us salvation. (The White Throne Judgment)
  • Second, we are told in various places in Scripture that we will be judged by our works, and will be rewarded. If the core doctrine of salvation by faith alone, apart from works is true, then these judgments and rewards must be something other than salvation.
    • There is the promise of crowns in Heaven (Rev. 3:11, Matt. 6:2, Rev. 4:4)
    • There is the promise of Heavenly treasure (Matt. 6:20, 1 Pet. 1:4)
    • There are promises of Responsibility, Authority, and inheritance of God's possessions. (Matt. 19:28; 24:45-47; 25:21, 23; Lk. 19:17-19; 22:29-30; Rev. 2:26).
As to whether the doctrine of two judgments is Biblical depends on the definition of "Biblical". Scripture does not come out and state directly that there are two judgments, so in that regard, it might be considered "extra-Biblical". On the other hand, there is a bit of Biblical support for the doctrine. In that regards, it's as Biblical as the doctrine of the Trinity, and other doctrines not explicitly stated in Scripture.

Eschatology What's the difference between the Judgment Seat of Christ and the Great White Throne Judgment?

The Judgment Seat of Christ is for the saved, while the Great White Throne judgement is for unsaved. However, that doesn't necessarily mean these are two separate events.

Judgment Seat of Christ
2 Corinthians is written to believers; Paul opens the letter with "Paul...Unto the church of God which is at Corinth". In chapter 5 Paul exhorts the Corinthians to labor for Christ, telling them that "we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ." Paul goes on to say that the judged will receive what is due them, depending on the works they did on earth. The Judgement Seat of Christ is also referenced in 1 Corinthians:

1 Corinthians 3:10-15 (KJV) ...I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

These passages reveal that the Judgement Seat of Christ is when Christians will be judged for the works they did after they accepted salvation.

Great White Throne Judgment
Revelation 20:12 (KJV) And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Here the dead are judged "according to their works," like the Judgment Seat of Christ.

Revelation 20:13, 15 (KJV) And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works...And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

So the unsaved are definitely judged at the Great White Throne Judgment.

Conclusion
The saved are present at the Judgement Seat of Christ, and the unsaved are present at the Great White Throne Judgment. Is it possible that they take place at the same time? Yes. Both judgments are a judgment of earthly works. It could be that Paul and John just chose to focus on different aspects of the same event.

It is also possible that these judgments take place at different times. Nothing in scripture prevents them from occurring separately, and they are certainly referred to in different manners.

Ultimately, whether they take place together or not, the salient point is that both the saved and the unsaved will be judged for how they lived their lives.

The following scripture describes this Day when we will be judged.

The reward for those who were faithful is inheriting the kingdom of God, being joint heirs with Jesus Christ.

  • However, as you can see, there is among this group that are gathered before His throne, those who do not inherit the kingdom of God.

Eschatology What's the difference between the Judgment Seat of Christ and the Great White Throne Judgment?

2 Corinthians is written to believers; Paul opens the letter with "Paul...Unto the church of God which is at Corinth". In chapter 5 Paul exhorts the Corinthians to labor for Christ, telling them that "we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ." These passages reveal that the Judgement Seat of Christ is when Christians will be judged for the works they did after they accepted salvation.

So the unsaved are definitely judged at the Great White Throne Judgment.

Ultimately, whether they take place together or not, the salient point is that both the saved and the unsaved will be judged for how they lived their lives.

So in your opinion, is the following scripture a picture of the Judgement seat of Christ or the great White Throne Judgement?

31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

44 “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened.(Found also in Hebrews 9:27) and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works... And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” —Revelation 20:11,12,15

Whether the judgments are at the same time, which would be odd being the righteous in Christ were separate from the sinners while on Earth, and there would have to be scripture that says the saints who died in Christ are standing equal in a place of judgment with those who died condemned in their sins, is an issue but not the issue that makes this a protracted debate.

The books are opened. The saints in Christ, the redeemed, are not the sinners who die in their sins. The books are opened. Two thrones are described in scripture , the White throne of judgment, the Bema seat, the judgment seat of God, different phrases in different scripture books. And yet there are two distinct seats from which God judges life after death. Would God in inspiring his true word to the world not be very clear as to what awaits those to whom he speaks on Earth? The sinner and the saved alike? Those whom he knew before the world was created by him had their names written in the book of life then too. When God the father knew those names before humanity came to exist, he would also know in his all knowing spirit as creator of it all, who would not be in his grace, who would not hearken unto the call to be saved.
The saved are renewed, reborn. Behold the old has faded away and the new has come.
How would those who are renewed, reborn, stand with those who are corrupt in spirit because they died in their sins? In the spirit how would we stand together? When we were apart in this world when we were in flesh?

What does JLB stand for? And who is the light bringer pictured in your profile picture?

:thumbsup th1b.taylor, you made the observation in another post that what is occurring here with their insistence is heresy. Yes, it is. And it continues without being stopped. How is that possible?
The fruits of their father on display and no one cares to put a stop to it? The history of their posting is that which argues the point of the adverse to every point of salvation. Eternal salvation, now the judgment seat of Christ. How much more clear do they have to be as to their purpose?
:bible:cross:hug sister,
It is easy to let ourselves become frustrated when we encounter something that is in opposition to what we hold dear. In any area of our life.
I know there are many forums dedicated to our Lord that serve as a ministry on the Web. I see each one that is in the true spirit of Christ as exactly that. Whether or not that declaration appears in the site mission statement.
Therefore, let your frustration in this case wash over you and then let the love and truth of Christ that enforlds you as his daughter wash all that negative emotion out of your heart and mind forever. Dont swalllow your emotions because personal experience shares that that can make you sick. But feel it and then realize you have an advocate in Heaven that knows you intimately. And knew you'd feel that. And forgives you and heals you all at the same time. :boing That's my personal happy favorite part.

What happens if you keep :wall:wall:angry3 and are not heard? What you know to be conflicting with the passages you hold dear keeps showing itself in conflict because of pride, self-righteousness, and lack of knowledge? This , :wall:wall:angry3. Only it is hurting you :thudAnd causing :whirl. Because nothing you do to turn around :lock in that area of your life works. Because :lock is immovable.
But what is eternal? And truth that echoes through eternity in a great herald of angels or even as a whisper in our heart? :bible
Take time to :crying for the:lock:lock that you encounter anywhere in your life. And then, release all those bruises from :wall:wall:angry3.
You're washed clean in the blood of the lamb. No thing , no one, can take that from you. :sohappy
And really, neither you, nor me, nor any saint in Christ our Lord anywhere in the world, is responsible for :lock. God knows that too. We will never :angry3 that to leave its place in God's will.

(I hope those made you smile. :biggrin I think they're cute. And they help bring to you a message with love behind it so that you feel better today. :hug. Do you know what I do when I get really frustrated with something that just jars my jibblets? :bathSeriously. I take a shower , if time doesn't allow for a nice long bath. And I sing hymns. Or , I recite scripture that comforts me. It is a cleansing ceremony that washes away all that plagues me and my peace of mind that I have allowed due to someone who is not in my control and their actions or thoughts or beliefs that they've brought to my attention.
You're not responsible for what other people say about you. Or what other people think. Especially when Jesus tells us the truth shall set us free. And yet, there are plenty in the world who's names are not in God's book of life, for whom the truth does not even whisper to catch their attention. Because they are deaf to the grace offered. And are mightily satisfied with their place in this world that they believe is all that ever will be for them. I've met people that have told me that's how they see their life. Can you imagine? :mouthdrop

I hope you smile. :) "Let it goooo, let it goooo," :woot Adding this to keep it on the mark of the rules with scripture should you find yourself in a bind concerning the word. :)

Matthew 10:14 If someone is inhospitable to you or refuses to listen to your testimony, leave that house or town and shake the dust from your feet.

The following scripture describes this Day when we will be judged.

The reward for those who were faithful is inheriting the kingdom of God, being joint heirs with Jesus Christ.

  • However, as you can see, there is among this group that are gathered before His throne, those who do not inherit the kingdom of God.

I can agree with that. Rev 20:12 says the books, notice the plural of books, were opened and another book was opened that is the book of life. I believe this to be the Lamb's Book of Life. When the book of life is opened we who have been gathered to Christ (sheep) will receive our rewards that have been stored up in heaven for this time as our inheritance of the Kingdom of Heaven is at that time given to us, while on the left hand (goats) is the judgement of the unrighteous who will be cast into the lake of fire as their names are found in the other books.

This PDF source notes through the scriptures that there are 6 books to be opened at the judgment.

JUDGMENT DAY – “And the Books Were Opened”
1. The Book of Nature.
2. The Book of Remembrance.
3. The Old Testament.
4. The New testament.
5. The Record of Every Man’s Works.
6. The Book of Life.

Where in scripture does it say six books will be opened and names them all? Any one can make a chart and try to pass it off as truth.

Fair question.

The Book of Nature: A reference to general revelation, which is the revelation of God through the created order (see Romans 1:18–20; Romans 2:14–15; Psalm 19:1–4); does not include God’s specific plan to reconcile the world to himself through Christ (the latter being special revelation found only in the Bible).

The Book of Remembrance Malachi 3:16–18
The old and new testaments are self explanatory
The Record of Every Man's Works Ecclesiastes 12
The Book of Life

“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened... and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works... The White Throne Judgement is after this Judgement.

1000 years after this Judgement.

7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. 9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. 10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

The Great White Throne Judgment
11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:7-15

Matthew 25 describes the time of Jesus' return to Earth, after the tribulation.

This is the Second coming of Christ, and the resurrection/rapture.

This is the Judgement Seat of Christ, where He will Judge His people according to their deeds.

28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. John 5:28-29

Paul said it this way-

God, who “will render to each one according to his deeds”:
eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;
but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, Romans 2:6-8

The scriptures teach us that we will receive our salvation, in the end, at His coming.

27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, 28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. Hebrews 9:27-28

Peter says it this way -

whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:8-9

We know there are more than just two book as the one being the book of life (life in Christ) and the other books being those things done within self righteous acts apart from the will of God as they are done like that of the Pharisee's who loved to be seen of others, but yet not of God. I can not justify naming the books, but only know what they are within judgement of man.

I don't believe in a literal 1000 years, but only symbolic of a certain period of time as nowhere else in scripture does it mention a literal 1000 year reign of Christ here on earth, but symbolic as in Deuteronomy 7:9; 1Chronicles 16:15; Psalms 50:10; 90:4; 105:8 Ecc 6:6; 7:28; Daniel 5:1; 2Peter 3:8. I believe when Christ returns everything will happen quickly in Gods timing that does not coincide with what we might believe to be the actual timing of events.

Matthew 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

John 5:27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. 28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in thegraves shall hear his voice, 29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Rev 11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

When I read all the scriptures of Jesus sitting at the right hand of God and these scriptures that speak about the judgement of Christ, the judgement seat of Christ, the Great White throne judgement where God is sitting on the throne and the books that are opened this make me believe that at the Great White Throne judgement God will be sitting on His throne and Jesus is there seated at Gods right hand now on His throne. All (saints and sinners) have been called from their graves (one resurrection) and the sheep are then separated from the goats as the sheep, being those of God and His Son will stand before the judgement seat of Christ as they have been given their new glorified bodies and their names found in the book of life. They will then be judged for their good works they did as being the continued works of the Lord being in Gods will and receive their crown rewards and their inheritance of the Kingdom of God. The goats being those who are not Gods will be judged out of the other books and their judgement is that of rejecting God and His Son and their punishment is being cast into the lake of fire.

One resurrection, two separate judgements all done at the same time at the Great White Throne Judgement then will God renew the heaven and earth and usher down the New Jerusalem.
