So when you give to the poor, don't let anyone know what you are doing. Your giving should be done in secret. Your father can see what is done in secret, and he will reward you.

What do you get out of this passage? :biggrin
 
A. Giving to the poor is not something you do to get a good public reputation
B. You are never alone.
C. Reinforcement that my good deeds will be one day rewarded.

Don't do good things to get attention or praise from men. Do it to please God. :thumbsup
 
Is it just that we are not supposed to brag, or are we supposed to understand that giving is an obligation for a believer and not just an option to gain brownie points?

Ohh and yeah we'll put! I have to say I find it annoying when people brag about Things they should do out of being human, not just to brag about.
