EVIL
Part 1, What is evil
Part 1, What is evil
First of all, this topic 'what is evil' is as vital as knowing what is poison. Both, if taken in, will eventually kill you.
Why is this important?
I believe too many of us easily get caught up in what is evil without realizing it. If we knew what evil is and how it exists, we would not be so easily caught up in it. Then we can starve evil and be responsible for it. The less we get caught up in it the less we stumble and be fearful in life.
We are witnesses to the world of what it is to be a Christian. Stumbling is not a good role model, and stumbling has been the largest compromise to Christianity. It would be good to know how to change this around.
Simply put, evil is fear itself.
But wait! Do we really know what fear is?
It is not just another word for being scared, etc., it is ALL about not wanting to facing death.
The devil, satan, demons, and other manifestations of evil are ALL fearful. They know that without gaining external sources of energy they will die. They do not have a source of eternal energy such as Truth and Love (God) within them. Evil relies on energy outside of itself, much like our body relies on food for energy. But what sort of food does evil need to exist? Evil relies on any energy not used in truth and love, such as deception and fear, which is what evil is all about. In other words, evil feeds deception to feed of fear. Or feed fear to feed of fear
Proverbs 26:11 As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly.
Evil suggests many forms of fear (fear of missing out, invalidity, shame, etc) in a person in the hope that they may take it in and become fearful. When a person is fearful, their mind and body becomes tense. It is that fear based tension which bleeds away our life energy. It squeezes it out of ourselves. Evil feeds of this to stay alive.
Matthew 4:1-11 is about the three temptations of Jesus Christ, and each one was combatted by scripture. All that satan could do was make three suggestions of fear (fear of dying by hunger, fear of abandonment, and fear of unworthiness). Each time satan tried to baiting or tempt Jesus in the hope He will take one in and get hooked.
All temptations come from evil:
James 1:13-14 When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14. but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.
So what is evil to us?
Evil suggests fear to feed of fear in others. When we do the same, we become evil.
The goal of evil is not only for to become fearful, but by being fearful we too become evil. In other words, recruited.
Evil cannot rest until it gets energy:
Proverbs 4:16 For they cannot rest until they do evil; they are robbed of sleep till they make someone stumble.
Evil plants fear and reaps it:
Job 4:8 As I have observed, those who plow evil and those who sow trouble reap it.
Evil gets taken in and reused:
Mark 7:21-23 "...For it is from within, out of a person's heart, that evil thoughts come--sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22. adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23. All these evils come from inside and defile a person."
Other forms of evil, regardless by who:
Romans 2:8-12 But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. 9. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil..; 10. but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good... 11. For God does not show favoritism.
Evil in our thoughts and speech:
James 3:6-8 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one's life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. 7. All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, 8. but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
Fear is a lack of faith in Truth and Love (God). Evil is a result of not having this faith. Evil is self-serving, exploitative of self and others. Whenever we do this, regardless of how subtle, we are what is evil.
EVIL: part 2 will be about recognizing it and how to not succumb to it.
