Sorry another serious topic. I take myself very seriously you know. :)
Think of a time when you faced a new challenge. How did you handle it? It might have been starting a new job. Or losing one. Or a health scare. Or a big financial loss.
If you are anything like me, you go into panic mode. And if it triggers old fears and failures, it is even worse.
I can remember learning a new job as a support worker in an Aged Care facility. We were expected to learn how to administer correct medications to up to 25 residents 3 times a day. This included asthma puffers which required pill crushing, creams for skin rashes, checking BSL via pin pricks, and some very dangerous ones, if administered incorrectly might cause death. I had absolutely no experience. it was all training on the job, hands on.
I was hopeless. Nervous. made mistakes. Didn't enjoy it. Not good rapport with patients. Went home worrying and stressed how I could possibly continue. In the end I only lasted 3 months.
I didn't feel cut out for the job. Some workers were much more talented than me. I sometimes wonder now, if I had persisted, I may have gained confidence. But really it was a tough job for not very much money either. You needed to love it and I didn't.
Sometimes a new challenge can lead to huge growth. But sometimes it is just too much. I couldn't handle the pressure I admit. I admire people who can.

Hi Brother skyhigh. In Christ we are God’s workmanship. Jonah was sent where he didn’t want to go, even in an unfavorable mode of transportation. Job was tested in ways I hope none of us ever are, and that being that he was considered a perfect and upright man by God. Need more? The bible is full of God’s chosen being tested beyond their limits, but that for their good.

My personal testimony in this regard was working on NASA projects of preparing missiles for astronauts to go to the moon. What happened? A full duration firing of the missile proved disastrous and it blew up, also taking out all the research facilities, and the company having to lay us off.

I ended up having to relocate twelve hundred miles, and working at making suitcases on what is known here as piece work; we might have been paid twelve dollars per thousand for a certain procedure, and that comes down to 1.2 cents per piece I may have assembled. We were supposed to make $2.20 per hour average working as hard as we could.

I finally had enough after three years and had to work extra jobs to make a living, and tested for the Postal Service here in America. Not much better pay, but there was lots of overtime at the time. Now, just why would I have been led on that long endurance test? I do not know other than God had His hand in it. I ended up beginning my career there with Christian evangelists, and not only do I believe that I was saved before, I became assured of it, and thus started my personal walk with our Lord. Was there much to learn? You bet, but forty years later I was able to retire. Well I should say thirty-four years later because six of my total retirement came as the result of having been in the Air Force for six years, and that added to my Civil Service.

There’s an old saying that says: “Don’t trip, God ain’t finished with me yet,” and one day I will be taken home.

Hi Eugene, I think us old timers were living in a different attitude or had better role models, for my experience was similar. I was not a rocket scientist, but a Machinist. I had many terrible jobs, but wound up in Environmental Water Chemistry and an ever so close walk with the Lord. I feel that the end result was all designed by The Lord.

wow. I feel like you are kind of famous really.

Does life have to be an endurance test? I guess I have the expectation, that life should be enjoyed to some extent. If going to work daily feels like a punishment, I just cant stand it.

Perhaps it just wasn't the right job for you skyhigh. What did you do next ?
I quit two more jobs after a few months, then started a cleaning job which I do now. The money is poor but mentally I have energy to do other things after work. Cleaning I recommend as a job to anyone who finds jobs dealing with people, too stressful.

I know. That's why I fear God gets angry with quitters like me.
God loved us enough to send Jesus, He & Jesus will lose none of us, and the Holy Spirit has sealed us unto the day of redemption; we don't get more secure than that. Considering the events in my life I would have been taken long ago. As the hymn, where could I go but to the Lord.

A personal benefit of peace and purpose will come to you brother when you can accept what the Lord gives us with the following advice.
Col 3:22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
Col 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men. :)

To me life has been given me without compromise from our loving Father. Everything He does in our lives are to benefit us not only here, but in the eternities to come. I thought I had given you the following pamphlet before that I wrote when my life seemed to be coming apart. The experience brought me to near a death/life situation that caused me to read the entire bible three times through in approximately three months seeking answers. I hope you'll give it an opportunity to comfort you.

Singer Whintley Phipps made this following comment before singing the hymn "It is Well."
"It is in the quite crucible of your personal private sufferings, that your noblest dreams are born, and God’s greatest gifts are given in compensation for what you’ve been through. It is Well . . ."

Christian Sufferings

Something I just added for reason also:

Life is full of challenges as it is how we handle them that makes us a stronger person, not a failure. If you give it your all you will never fail even if you can not make the grade at least you tried and that's what is important. Being 63 I could write a book on life challenges and since I am still here on this earth I am an overcomer as God has brought me through so much that has made me a better stronger person then I use to be.
All praise and glory be to Christ Jesus who has saved me from my own destruction in life :pray

Beautiful quote Eugene. Love it.
