What's your interpretation of the Gospel message to "turn the other cheek"? This thread can be transferred to another subforum if necessary.
I can remember in my early thirtees I was at a pub with a very "macho" work colleague who almost resembled an outlaw Bikie. He mocked the Christian message by holding his arms out as if being crucified saying" what? so just 'turn the other cheek' like Jesus did? Na. Christianity makes no sense to me."
That conversation has stayed with me until this day.
 
i think it was....nietzsche...who wrote of Jesus' teachings as a "feminine" belief system, versus his "masculine" outlook. He declared "God is dead," before himself dying, after being driven to madness by syphilis, broken and alone.

that is an interesting comment. I need to research that one.
 
Nietzsche talked about the Superman when he himself was a weakling. Practically an invalid the last ten years of his life. His sister took care of him and twisted his works to repurpose them for the Nazis. The woman he fancied went away with his best friend. His book Antichrist is weak at best in scholarship compared to other works and weak even as a Christian bashing book.
 
Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

By heaping cools of fire on his head means that no matter what another does to you show them kindness as it could change their heart.
