Jesus will never lose one of his sheep. Even if the sheep wander off the shepherd knows the name of his sheep and will never give up on them. The shepherd is wiser than the sheep.

John 5 – Jesus said:
24I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.

Romans 8
38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Jesus is in heaven, seated at the right hand of God.

Today, He works through His people, to preach the Gospel and do the works He did, while He was on the earth.

That's why James teaches us that we are to go and turn those who wander, back to God so they won't remain lost.

Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, 20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. James 5:19-21

  • he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death

Jesus taught His disciples the same thing.

4 “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ 7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.
Luke 15:4-7

Sheep who become lost are as a sinner in need of repentance.

  • likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents

Again

21 And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’... 31 “And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. 32 It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.’”
Luke 15:21,31-32

  • for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.’

Jesus said those who wander away and become lost are as sinners in need of repentance, just as an unbeliever needs to repent or remain lost.

hello JLB, dirtfarmer here

You need to complete your sentence; " Jesus is in heaven, seated at the right hand of God."
Romans 8:34, " Who is he that condemneth,? it is Christ died, yea rather ,that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us."
This verse stated that Christ is making intercession for us while seated at the right hand of God. The accuser of the brethren accuses us before God, bur Jesus, who is seated at the right hand, is making intercession for us. When we commit sins, Satan accuses us before God, but Jesus is there making intercession for us. Therefore we are secure in Jesus Christ our intercessor, not in any danger of losing our salvation.

What are you trying to say there in direct terms?

I was replying to your comment which said

Jesus must use us to after His sheep that have gone astray, and are lost.

You gentlemen are so close to one another you all should agree to disagree and just work to build the kingdom.
Yeah, this is just osas in a thin disguise. Everyone has their belief and are not going to change it no matter how many scriptures are thrown around. Wonder if both sides could possible be right?

Does anyone participating in this thread believe there is no possible way for a born again Christian to wander away from the Lord and become lost?

I will post the scriptures here again for why I believe, it is possible for a born again Christian to wander away from their Lord and become lost.

John 10:2 27 My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me. 8 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all. No one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.

Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

John 3: 15 that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life. 16For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life

Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord

Romans 8:1Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in ChristJesus. 2For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life has set you free from the law of sin and death

Phil 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

Heb 11:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Heb 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

I do......blaspheme the Holy Spirit.....the one unforgivable sin....and since it is not directed exclusively at nonbelievers it seems to be directed at all people.

JLB, not discounting your scriptures but there are just as many that imply a person cannot lose their salvation as has been posted on more than one occasion. So, how do we reconcile those scriptures?

It’s basically a yes or no question.

I will post the scriptures here again for why I believe, it is possible for a born again Christian to wander away from their Lord and become lost.

I have not used the term “losing salvation”.

My question is about whether a sheep can become lost or not.

I agree with your statement about the unforgivable sin.

Then could you please define what you mean by 'lost' so we are all talking about the same thing. Biblicaly speaking I think most people equate 'lost' as without salvation.

Yes, a definition for lost would be helpful.

Lost = Sinner who is need of repentance; spiritually dead to God, reconciliation to God.

Found = Someone that is reconciled to God;
Spiritually alive to God

I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:7
