“I am willing, be clean.” Luke 5:13

The huge psychological barrier of illness masked him to see the fertility of the Gennesaret plateau.. The soothing view of Galilee Sea pleases him no more. The breeze, endorsing the fragrance of beautiful flowers of reeds layered over the banks of the lake, which always gave him a sense of freshness, now penetrates his deep wounds and puss of his body. The itchiness of hands and legs didn’t help him stay calm inside over worn blanket, giving sleepless night of distress. He missed little Andrew, whom he used to make sleep, keep close to his chest. He heard from the aunt that Andrew started walking and unknowingly, a drop of tear fell from his eye and mixed with the deep darkness of his lepor-scar on the face.

More than anything, the feel that he became an infliction to his friends and relatives, burdened him. The sigh of atrocity, rejection, isolation and humiliation kept him far away from the town. The normal peace and calmness of abandoned shallow beach of Galilee, where he used to sit idle looking at the sea, laughing at the past pleasant time was disturbed today. Large crowd hover over one boat still, even after the morning shift of fishermen and their trade. “He is Jesus from Nazareth, the prophet who drives out evil spirit and heals the blind.” Somebody told. Others told, “He said, he came to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and sight for the blind. He is the real messiah.” Since then, he followed Jesus, and when he encountered Him, he fell down with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus reached out His hands and touched him. “I am willing, be clean!!”

Everyday, Jesus Christ calls us for the cleanliness of our hearts. He wants to heal disease afflicted and stitch together all broken hearts. He is our God, who understands the disease in us. He knows the hopelessness and the weakness we have, to come and stand before Him with our own righteousness. But, our God is the most merciful and transforms the life of disease and rejuvenate us by His Spirit. The lepor, whom Jesus Christ healed, only had past. Jesus Christ gave Him a future to realize God. He wants to do the same to all of us. If we are hopeless, broken and burdened with sins of our past, we should go to Him and cry like that lepor ‘Lord, we are in disease..!! The parasite has infected and drove the blood and beauty of Godliness from us. Our entire body is destroyed by evil. Yet we come to you… Lord, if you are willing, make us clean.’ “I am willing, be clean!!” says the Lord.
