9 and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith..." (Philippians 3:9 NASB)

What is the difference between "a righteousness of my own" and a righteousness that is "through faith in Christ"?

The righteousness of Christ is true righteousness , that comes from Christ, in which He was obedient to do all His Father showed Him and spoke to Him to do.

He did what the Father said...Unlike Adam.

By giving us His Spirit, He has empowered us to do the same things (works) that He did.

It's thinking you are good because the law says you're good instead of hearing Jesus 'you who are evil' Mt. 7:11, with faith. Gal. 3:2, 3:5

I would say it's the difference between keeping the law and keeping the faith; living by the rules and living by faith. You could say God is righteous because he keeps his promises, and refer to that as the righteousness of God which is based on faith.

Isaiah 64:6 (NASB95)
6For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

But doesn't living by faith mean 'keeping' the rules?

In the OP, Paul seems to be referring to two different sources of righteousness. Perhaps one source of right standing with God coming from the successful keeping of the law (Deuteronomy 6:25 NASB), and another source of right standing with God coming from God through faith in Christ apart from what we do (Romans 4:5-6 NASB). One is earned, while the other is given as a free gift when one believes in Christ.
