Ok, fess up, anyone tried this fad?

Its really more than just eggs, though they are the main food. I am not a fad diet person, but this one actually intrigues me. The science behind it sounds legit.

I am going to be on it starting Monday. But I am curious if anyone has ever tried it?

I am heading to the Colorado mountains for an elk hunt this coming fall, so I really need to drop some weight so I don't have to tote so much through the mountains.

I went on an elk hunt 2 years ago and lost 40lbs in 6 or so months. Hard work and diet were key. What annoys me though is that I had never felt as good physically then except in my younger years. I hurt myself pretty bad on a deer hunt not too long after I returned from Colorado and it stopped my workouts for a long time. Drifted back into old habits and now I am about the same weight as I was, and physically unfit, before then.

Yup. It will be hard(as I sit here eating a cheesy yeast roll).....

When I did a diet before it was what you hear of as Paleo. If I remember right, I stayed away from most all bread then too. I did eat some bonafied whole grain bread, but anything really processed is what I did not eat. It was different at first, but my body responded very well to it.

breads are my down fall ... That is Jesus' fault Mar_14:22 And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.

I'm not into diets. I made a life change a long time ago so I longer call it a "diet"

Basically I just calculate macros

Carbs
proteins
fats

And I use a formula that breaks it down on how much I need daily per my current body weight. It's pretty easy

Honestly I never heard of the "egg diet" but I know they are high in protein and amino acids which is a great source. But like with anything moderation is key because eggs are also high in cholesterol.

I started doing that also after my initial push for fitness the first time around. And I will probably do it after this also.

I look at this as a kick start. Its a pretty well put together system, although it doesn't seem like it at first. Definitely not recommended for more than two weeks.

Its more motivational than anything, but it seems to be well known or at least there is a lot out there on the net. lol

I'll keep tabs on it as I go. Probably wont be much to document as its such a short time. At least if someone comes along like me and is interested I can give them my experience with it. I'm going to guess it takes a "different" kind of person to do it as the diet plan is very bland.

Ok Atonement - now your just making me feel like an even fatter, overweight, out of shape, middle aged man by putting up new Avatars..... :)

A weight loss testimony to the Lord
Years ago i lost 129 in 9 months no it was not a child.. ... I had prayed for help from the Lord... He gave it His Mercy :)
Some how i knew as along as i gave Him the glory He would hold up my arms like the guys did for Moses... Some one ask WOW how are you doing this they got the sermon... i had lost a bit more weight but it was time for it to come much slower.. Time has passed a couple years weight was not a problem.. on a grumpy day some one asked about how i had lost the pounds...i did not take the few minutes to give the glory to God..i felt His sorrow I felt Him let go of my arms... I have not put that weight back on but it is a battle i was free from when giving Him the glory.. .

Hard work and patience is what I say. I began truck driving and eating at Truck Stops everyday. It took a toll on my body and it showed especially in my gut. I had to do something.. I praise God and dumbbells .. Today I have my life back

129lb in 9 months in itself is a testimony to what God is capable of.

I actually started some serious body work back then, but then got hurt. It was all downhill from there.

It started as just for weight loss, because muscle burns more than fat, and it really did work out that way. I did not want to get too "big" though as it was for the elk hunt and guys were talking about how muscle also consumes more oxygen. Something this low lander needed plenty of hiking in the mountains in Colorado.

How long did it take?

How long did it take?

I was my biggest weighing in at 215lbs in 2015. I got off the truck in February on 2016 weighing about the same. It wasn't until March 2016 that I started hitting the dumbbells hard (all I use is dumbbells). It took six months to completely transform my physique. I lost 25lbs and gained 15lb of solid muscle. The Avatar pic was taken in Sept. 2016.

Supplements:

Multi-vitamin
Whey protein
Pre-workout - just to get that drive I need to push weights around
L-Carnitine combined with CLA for weight loss

That's it..

Sounds like my story, even the supplements. I just didn't push it too hard because I did not want to build too much muscle. Sounds weird, but true. This time around, I am going to go ahead and not worry about building too much. After my trip I realized oxygen depletion was not that big of a deal at the altitude I was hunting.

I have a 5 day rotation, 2 day off. On the weekend I pick one day to do a long hike in a natural area near me. I do all my workout in the morning, and cardio at night. Well.....that is when I was doing it. lol. But I have started again, because October is not far off!

Nathan - let me ask you a couple of questions about your over all fitness.. If that is cool? Answer as honestly as you can

1. What are you trying to achieve? A muscular look i.e fitness model look (nothing wrong with that, it's my goal which is why its number one) lol.
2. Body type? Are you a endomorph (hard gainer), a mesomorph (compact muscular build hard to loose weight) or a ectomorph (lean delicate body)

I'm asking because you have said somethings in your previous post that I won't touch on yet until I know what your current fitness level and your overall goals?

You said that you don't want to get to big .. This tells me you are phasing your workouts then (i.e bulking and cutting) is that right? If not, then explain why you believe you will get to "big"

Good questions, its cool. Its been a few years, but back when I started in on it I learned as much as I could about the "body building world". Bodybuilding.com got quite a few of my dollars.......

Back then I was trying to just lean up, but not loose muscle at all - maybe even gain just a bit. I wasn't sure how the muscle would effect me in the altitude, but on the flip side I knew it was going to take strength to tote an elk up a mountain for miles - if I had been successful....

Now, I know that the altitude wont effect me that bad, so I don't mind going ahead and building up. I would say I want "definition". My wife says she does not like the really bulky look. Maybe she is just trying not to hurt my feelings....but I'm gonna stick with what she said. When I do something, I have a tendency to go all in.

Question 2 is I would say I am between an endo and meso. I am 5'7" or 5'8"(on my better days :) ). Right now I weigh 180. When I started a few years ago I weighed 195, and dropped to 155 in 6 months. I got toned, but not defined if that makes sense. The first few months was just trying to understand the diet and some exercise. The last few were total workout, but more cardio than weight. Although, I did lift in the mornings, I just did not push myself.

I actually did not phase. It was for pure stamina without muscle loss. I believe that I could get too big only because then I had a certain goal. Now, I doubt that I will get too big without actually working real hard at it. I am not so much worried this go around though. My wife will let me know if things get out of control.

It seems weird. I do not usually "say" or talk about what I am doing. I just do it. But motivation is a good thing. I don't care about my looks as much as I care about how great it feels when your physically fit. It blew me away what I could do when I lost that weight. I was hiking, 10,000 feet above where I normally live, for 8, 9 ,10 miles a day - days in a row. Never getting tired. Crazy.

That year was the best year deer hunting here at home too. Up until I hurt myself. Then it was all downhill. Got in a car wreck last spring which just compounded the issue. But now.....now I am back on track.

Ok. Today I start. Weighed myself in at 185 this morning. I was very liberal in my diet this weekend......:)

Day 2 update. :thud

Yep, this diet is not for the ones who like carbs. The grapefruit does help. The 1 piece of plain toast last night was so good.

Honestly, I have always wondered what it would be like to eat pretty much the same thing every day. You know, you see these apocalypse movies and such that people are always eating the same thing every day because thats all they have.

Sad thing is, makes you realize that there are people in other countries that do eat the same thing every day. Rice and beans. Except their diet is not by choice. Sometimes I think we don't understand how well we have it. I know I don't.
