The reason I wrote this post is because nothing irks my nerves more than seeing Christians fail due to ignorance. I’m not saying the persons themselves are ignorant—NO!

But, what I am saying is their lives could be so much more blessed if they were
really acting on the truth and not lies.

White lies, black lies, little lies or any lie is enough if you believe it to RUIN YOUR LIFE.

Lie #1: Going To Church is All You Need to Do to Manifest Biblical Promises

This particular lie has stagnated millions of Christians all over the world. Literally
causing many to miss tons of blessings God has for them, resulting in a lifetime in mediocrity.

Every Sunday morning (and/or evening for some) Christians get up and go to
church. This is a wonderful gesture. I mean, what other place could or should you be on a Sunday, other than the house of God.

The thing that saddens me is this. Many Christians arrive at church frustrated
about problems they want solutions too. They cry and pour their hearts to God
looking for him to act on their behalf and provide them with a solution.

They repeat this motion Sunday after Sunday hoping for a change in their
circumstances and their life. Many believe their frustration will finally be dispelled and the sweet life Christ promises will finally show up.

But, like clockwork they leave the church service after church is done only to
arrive back home with the same problems and frustrations they arrived in church with.

All because of this lie: Going to Church is All You Need to Do to Manifest Biblical
Promises.

nabruesion - The reason I wrote this post is because nothing irks my nerves more than seeing Christians fail due to ignorance.

Eugene - This is really the reason you wrote this? You have nothing to sell? Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

nabruesion - But, what I am saying is their lives could be so much more blessed if they were really acting on the truth and not lies.

Eugene - Do you have scripture to corroborate this?

nabruesion - Every Sunday morning (and/or evening for some) Christians get up and go to church.

Eugene - Are you aware many Christians also have Saturday as their day of worship?

nabruesion - But, what I am saying is their lives could be so much more blessed if they were really acting on the truth and not lies.

Eugene - What makes you think all are acting on lies? Do you attend and belong to a certain church you can name that is preaching truth?

nabruesion - All because of this lie: Going to Church is All You Need to Do to Manifest Biblical Promises.

Eugene - I've been to different churches for many years and have never heard that preached. Can you possibly be more specific?

Are you going to be preaching any of the truth you have on these forums?

Thanks.

With the way that the so called "lie" is written, I would agree. It's not "all you have to do". However, it is a major part. Hebrews 10:25 says not to forsake the assemling of ourselves together. Romans 10:13-17 clearly states the importance of a preacher in being saved and having faith. What I do see in Eugene's reasoning is that people don't understand what proper worship is, nor do they understand what God's promises are. We are to serve Him, not Him serve us. If people are going to Church to get a blessing or answers/solution to their problems, they are going for the wrong reasons.

Furthermore, if they are looking for answers and solutions to earthly problems, Jesus never promised he would make your earthly life a bed of roses. He said with food and rainment be content. With that in mind, yes God did say he would make a way and he can bless you in your fleshly life. But it will be at what HE says is the right time and the right amount.

So going to Church isn't "all you need to do", but it is a big part of the process. There is something to be said for being a giver, understanding his Word, and putting him first above all other things (amongst other things).

Last, I'm a bit leary of people saying "contact me if you want to discuss this further". I can understand it depending on the reasons why, but I'll wait and see before doing such...

The big thing I watch for is give me your name, rank, and serial number; oh wait, that was when I was in the armed services. Now it's give me you name, email address, home address, and telephone number. I never do that either. Such a hassle for learning the correct way to worship and receive blessings.

Matthew 20:28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Rom 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to hispurpose.
Eph 1:11

In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
2Ti 1:9

Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according tohis own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Mat 6:33

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

I have no problem with Matthew 20: 28 but as you can see there are plenty of verses that say we should seek his will (I listed only a few). Yes, the promises are there, and the Lord will provide. My point is that we should not seek to press our own will on God, but to seek his will for us.

M. D. Henderson,

If you were to effectively deal with you problems, circumstances by going to church every week to make yourself a better person or to be right with God, this would be another lie people believe because it would give them a false sense of justification. I think that's worse.
