USA time watching Brazil play Columbia ole ole ole. :biggrin Do Americans still do fireworks on the 4th ?

The fireworks display was fantastic this evening in my town. It's always done on the Eve, so that town employees can spend time with their families on the 4th. Nearby cities and towns will have their fireworks tomorrow evening ... a couple of smaller towns will have their fireworks on Saturday evening. Lovely way to spread out the celebration!

Plans for tomorrow: cook out with family & friends ... then here online tomorrow evening.

When I was a kid we always had cracker night ( fireworks ) on the 4th. I'm not sure when or why the American celebration came here but it was tops. Most states now have banned most fireworks ( aside from professional displays ).

I think that's fun you had cracker night on the 4th while growing up, agua. !

There are bans in my area and/or state on certain types of fireworks, but there were plenty of home-type fireworks going off earlier, after the town fireworks show. (These smaller fireworks will continue for the next couple of weeks, or until the home supplies are exhausted)

what are you going to see? the florida national guard hq is there and they take you on the tour of Jackson barracks that is housed in the old quarter of the city.
We didn't have many specific ideas in mind other than seeing the fireworks. Went down there with some general ideas. There's a lot to do, and we've been down there once or twice before for school field trips, too.

90 degrees more wind than a breeze and humidity in the teens... equals no fireworks... had a nice barbecue dinner ... :)

Yeah, it rained while we were in St. Augustine. Thunder storm, too. It actually didn't affect our day much at all.

We had a great time. BBQ with friends from IN and family and Lexy's guy friend from church. Kids went up to the mountain for the fireworks which are really wonderful every year.
There's an old mountain road that we've always drove or hiked up that places you directly across from the mountainside they are shooting the fireworks from. When the fireworks explode they look like they are coming right straight at you. My grand daughter was so cute, "Wow that was close, I was ready to duck." The ground literally shakes under your feet and the sound echos off the mountain sides. Lexy said that one this year was so loud that it shook the ground enough that car alarms went off.

I don't know if I'd be willing to put such an expensive piece of equipment in danger like this guy did for the 4th...
