I saw a 50's era chevy today and at an old 50's era garage, former self serve gas station. the edifice is so old that it has the colored bathrooms on it. one of 20 that I know about from work that I do.

its still a garage and second generation from the original owner. hick's 66 gas and auto repair. he sells cars and fixes them. he used to sell gas but the epa mandate was too much for him so he stopped selling gas. we have one last self serve station. I think I will take my camera and take a pic of that and post on Thursday when I work that route.

that isn't far from me and he has a ton of old stuff from that era. I have that gulf sign as a desktop background. I remember the gulf signs of that era. my earliest memories of any gas station is of the 50's era station with this big sign and the four bathrooms. that building is torn down but I can always use google earth to see where it was. not that I don't remember that station. long before the epa got really hard on gas stations this gas station im talking about had a pile of junk to the north over a fence of old parts, tires and an rv. it was my and my brothers playground while we waited for my mom and dad to get the car fixed which was one of two, a pinto or the ford maverick.
cool.. The 58 impala as you can see the door handles were removed .. some times the push button would nt work and out the window pregnant tummy and all i would climb YOUTH
I know that but it is what what It was called and even then the black and the white as they did until it was rather quashed raced on that road. I know a few man of the old florida era that are black and raced then and still do now. I don't care if its not pc. they can ask I will tell. I was too young to have raced in that even if I wanted to. that road is where I wrecked my ranger. its had a few fatalities but not from racing down it. I don't think they raced to the intersection of 69th st and old Dixie. I think that was the starting point but its too congested for that to have ever happened again. my boss was just talking to me about that road and his days of racing mustangs and just moving here back in 94. he was asking me if I know the man that was murdered. I wasn't sure. I did tell him that he was a racer and had a shop but im not sure of which shop that man owned.
