Is it Wrong to Think About Hell All the Time?

The past couple years, I am obsessed with it. Hell. What it's like. Who's going there. Is it because I'm going there some day? How much do you think about it?
 
I hardly ever even have it cross my mind. Usually only on here, or when someone IRL happens to bring it up.

I do believe we are told to think on the things of God. Hell, ain't really His thing.
 
There's a middle ground I personally believe, Kevin. The Bible mentions Hell more than it mentions Heaven. We should certainly examine ourselves. But when you become obsessed with it, I wouldn't be comfortable saying that it's of God. The work of Jesus on the cross is mighty to save, even death has been conquered in His name, and it is unmerited grace which calls us to dwell in the heavenly with our Father, not our works.

I used to think of Hell every day. I used to be terrified of it -- not that the thought isn't still terrifying, but, I have more faith in God's mercy than I have faith in the power of my sin to remove me from Him. Like a handful of sand into the ocean... as far as east is from west... repent and turn from your sin and He will remember them not, and the devil has no foothold in your life, brother. Praise God. My fears abounded when I was part of a works-based church. It took me most of my life to finally understand that I can't earn my way in. Every deed I have done is a filthy rag. I never really understood "amazing grace" until very recently.

I believe in being vigilant. I believe in keeping our wicks trimmed and our lamps full of oil. I believe we can falter and fail. But prayerfully meditate and consider 2 Corinthians 5:21.

I find the subject of Hell fascinating. However, I don't think it is healthy for a born again Christian assured salvation and Heaven to obsessively focus on the damnation that awaits the lost. Especially as pertains to self.
If you wish to think on Hell maybe pray for those who have not yet heard the voice of Christ call them unto redemption so that they don't end up in Hell.

Why do you think you are obsessed with hell?Where do you think you are going when you die?Do you know what the Bible says hell is like?Do you know that hell is empty right now?I think of hell sometimes but I think of heaven a lot more than hell.

Some people right here in this forum think that you can stop having faith in God to remove sin and you still can not be removed from Him. They are the ones who should be revisiting the subject of the lake of fire, not those of us who have faith in--and continue to have faith in--God's forgiveness.

And some do not believe in hell.:shrug

Many years ago, when I was young, that fear gripped my mind and I was to the point I was a total wreck. This fear is based on 2 fallacies:

1) "What if". What if I'm "not saved"? What if my faith was not good enough? and other what if's.
2) That once we blow it in this lifetime, that's it. The so-called Christian church does not go past Pentecost regarding salvation.

If you notice, that Passover, aka Easter and then later Pentecost are the only two (convoluted) feasts of Yahweh the church holds. After that, there's all sorts of weird mixed-in stuff and they hold something like the ten-thousandth four hundred and twenty-seventh Sunday after Pentecost. :rolleyes They never arrive at Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, Tabernacles or the Last Great Day. All these future feasts yet to be fulfilled also have to do with the redemption of mankind. It merely started at the cross and church, God's firstfruits.

So all this bad dreamin' about hell, or hopes of heaven are just that. When you know the truth and the truth shall set you free, you'll see it was just that: bad dreams as credible as Santa and Krampus. But Santa's lies are very strong indeed, and every institution is riddled and infiltrated with them and holds everyone in fear. Revelation 12:1 defines that Dragon as Satan, who we know as the father of lies.

But I don't expect what I say to cure your fears. Like me you'll have to work them out and hopefully awaken one day. I went from a total anxiety-reaction addict to "nothing bothers me any longer". I don't even fear flying any longer. Does not bother me. When we are brutally honest, all fears basically boil down to the fear of death and then being tormented forever by Krampus, er, I mean the devil.

I had recently thought a lot about Hell also. I wouldn't say I was obsessed, but it was mainly from hearing the different POV's on the nature of it. I was surprised to hear interpretations that were so much different than what most would call the traditional view. After studying it and discussing or reading post on this site I finally came to terms with it. I think Hell is a real bad place and we should tell as many people about Jesus as we can, so they don't end up there. My view of it did not change that much from the traditional one even after being open minded about it and considering other interpretations.

We can tell as many people as we can about what the Bible says about hell.Then they are responsible for that information.They will be called on that information and what they did with it in their judgment.
