Not the Christian Scientists, mind you! A forum to discuss science in a Christian light. I know we have the current science forum, but all it is is debating. Everyone tries to use words bigger than the previous person in a vain attempt at one-up-man-ship. It's really annoying because I'd actually like to LEARN a thing or two and I cannot.

I once attempted to make a topic in the science section for the express purpose of being able to discuss some of the creation theories. I specifically asked that it remain strictly on topic and yet it was hijacked. I asked the staff to give me some help and I didn't get diddly squat!

So clearly the staff doesn't actually have the power to police the science topic and to help the OP keep on topic, so perhaps you guys could at least make a forum just for the discussion of such theories and what not so some of us can actually ask and learn instead of just debating with large words and vague concepts.

I agree. Perhaps a "Creation" forum so we wouldn't have to constantly get into debates over evolution or the earth being 4.5 billion years old with those (including 'Christians') who vehemently disagree.

Personally, I'm tired of having to defend every post... seems like that's all I really do anymore.

Mathematics and the sciences fascinate me. It is why I am an avid member and moderator over at thespaceport. I am not sure you can get good science discussions going on a predominately Christian board, because of how the topic triggers the defensiveness in so many.

And face it, most people would rather ARGUE their theology than learn anything about science.

I'll do what I can to support you in your attempts.

Yes! I know what your talking about. Not just in a christian forum but even when you post in a science forum that im on you have to be ready to viciously defend EVERY SINGLE post you make on the forum. Make a post or start a thread and it would be rare for you to not take attacks time and time again. Even if you sugarcoat it and try and be as nice and civil as possible. You still cant avoid people attacking every post.

Vic,
Here was my idea. It would be nice to invite somebody from AIG to this site as a Moderator of a forum to help out. Of course, they promote a literal 6 day creation, but they back it up with science, not just dogma.

Anyway, having a Creationist forum ONLY would be a great forum for them to moderate and share what they know. It would be a great Christian resource.

What do you think Vic? Is it something that the Staff would want to pursue? Hey, worse thing that could happen is AIG would say no.

Would this be a YEC only sub forum? Do we then give the OEC their own forum too? :shrug

This is something Nick, Mike and the rest of the Staff would need to discuss. :yes

Not needed Vic. The Christian only forum caters to all the denominations. Just make a section and tell people not to argue and then enforce that the same way it is enforced in the Christian section. Heck, add this forum as a subforum in the Christian section and then only Christians can talk in it anywho!~

nope, i have been on a creationist focused site and they allowed all views but defended the yec view there and allowed and any evidence to presented. just had to be able to meet true science criteria that fits the scientific method.

I don't want to have to defend YEC. I simply want to talk about it and not have to argue it around every corner. If I want to argue it, I know the forum to head to.

And yes Vic, am talking a YEC forum only because not all Christians believe in a young earth. I dont' want to argue with them either. I just want a civil discussion that edifies with like minded people. I don't get that when I have to argue and defend every view. It's not a good environment for me to learn and grow in an area I want to learn. I just get tired of having to navigate every discussion. Now, gimmie that cheese!

So, I take it we won't be getting our own yec sanctuary...?

I'm sure Pard or Ambrose would make a fine moderator for it.

Btw, the oec already have their sanctuary. Its called christianity and science and it is reminicence ot apolegetics and theology.

It's still in a staff discussion, but I'm guessing if a new sub-forum was created, it would be a Christian sub-forum, not just a YEC one.

Do we start having different sub-forums for all the major denominations now? Why do we wish to further divide the Body? I would have thought the area of science is where we need to be united the most at the moment.

Some folks view creation by faith... not science. I stay out of a few threads here as i try not to battle with or cause headaches to the staff.
