Hey there lads and lassies! This is the first time that I have felt well enough to write again so this is a story about a little girl who befriends a fairy but neither of her parents believe her. Then she is accidentally shrunk and the fairy introduces her to a clan of leprechauns. So yeah, since I do believe we are allowed to write our own stories and poems on here, please let me know what you think about it. :) Oh by the way, this is just a warning, this story contains an evil witch involved with it so if that is a problem, you might want to stop reading right now. I'm just sort of making it up as I go along btw.

Chapter One; Do You Believe In Fairies?

It was Lilly's birthday today. She was nine years old. She wanted a lot of things for her birthday, but more than anything she wanted her very own pony. For she took riding lessons every Wednesday afternoon. Her mother picked her up from school and took her to the riding arena. Lilly had bleached blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She was also very smart for her age. All of her friends knew that she was the smartest kid in school. She always got straight A's, and she almost never got in trouble. The only thing about Lilly that made her unusual is that she still had an imaginary friend and believed in fairies and leprechauns. A lot of the other students teased her for it and it always made her very upset.

"Sorry Lilly, fairies aren't real." another boy with freckles and red rimmed glasses told her on the playground at recess time but Lilly just simply stamped her foot.

"Yes they are. They are too real!" she exclaimed before she burst into tears and ran inside just as the bell rang. Lilly didn't say anything to anyone for the rest of the day. She just simply sat her desk and heaved a deep and heavy sad sigh while lying her head down upon her folded arms. "I saw one." she muttered under her breath. "I saw one and I know they are real!" she growled to herself. For about a week or so ago Lilly was kneeling down by her bedside saying her prayers when all of a sudden she saw a flashing, golden, shimmering light out of the corner of her eyes. Or at least, that's what she thought that she had spotted as she gasped and quickly ran over there to look. However, when she got there all she saw was the neighbor's old hound dog a crossed the street. She leaned her head up against the wall and breathed a deep and heavy sad sigh.

That afternoon she found her mother along with her baby brother inside of the kitchen. "Alright now Alex, open up." her mother encouraged but the baby just simply stared at her and pushed away the spoonful of applesauce that she was offering away with his hand and started to cry. "Oh dear, not again." she said just as Lilly shut the door tightly behind her.

"I'm home." she said rather loudly before her mother stopped to turn and look at her and then smiled warmly at her.

"Oh hello darling. How was school?" she asked her.

"Terrible." Lilly began. "I don't want to talk about it." she told her while she hurried out of the kitchen as her mother stood up.

"Why, what happened?" she questioned her daughter while she slowly began to follow her down the hallway and watched her climb up the stairs two at a time. "Do you have any homework?" she asked but instead of answering her Lilly just simply slammed her bedroom door behind her and folded her arms angrily while sliding her back down upon it and finally sitting down upon the ground.

That night, Lilly finally decided to tell her mother what had been bothering her. "Hey my little flower, did you say your prayers yet?" her mother questioned her while she climbed underneath her covers and her mother pulled them overtop of her. Lilly simply just nodded before brushing some strands of hair out of her face and blinking up at her mother.

"Mom, can I ask you a question?" she asked her.

"Sure you can sweetheart." her mother began before sitting down at the foot of her bed. "What's on your mind?"

"Are fairies real? Because some boy at my school told me that they weren't." she said. "And that really hurt my feelings because I'm pretty sure that I saw one once." she told her.

"Oh I see. Was this the same boy that told you that God was make believe as well?" her mother wondered as Lilly nodded with a sniff while a tear trickled down her cheek. She quickly wiped her nose with the back of her hand as her mother smiled down upon her. "You know Lilly, just because that boy is older than you doesn't mean that he knows everything. Just because we can't see something, it doesn't mean that it isn't there." she told her.

"So that means that fairies at really real then right??" Lilly inquired.

"As long as you continue to keep them in your dreams, they will be." her mother reassured her soothingly before she bent over and kissed her forehead and quietly turned off the light and left the room. Lilly didn't feel any better than she had before but she rolled over onto her side and tried her absolute best to go to sleep.

.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Lilly's mother slowly came down the stairs. "Jack, I'm really concerned about Lilly." she began to her husband as a man with short black hair walked over to her to meet her.

"Why, what's wrong with her?" he wondered.

"She's nine years old now and she still believes in fairies. I didn't have the heart to tell her that they aren't real." she explained.

"Oh don't worry Katherine, sooner or later she'll grow out of it. After all, she finally stopped believing in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny." he told her.

"But this is different Jack, she swears that she actually saw a fairy out her bedroom window. Now I'm really concerned about this. Lilly is a very smart girl and although we both know that she has a wonderful imagination, it isn't like her to make up stories like that." she told him with a shake of her head.

"Don't worry honey," he began before he quickly pecked her on the lips. "if it starts becoming too much of a problem, we'll take her to a psychologist." he told her unaware that their daughter had been secretly listening to their whole entire conversation while she squatted down by the railing and gazed down at them through the bars. Luckily for her they didn't notice her and walked away in separate directions before Lilly hurried back into her bedroom and leapt back inside her bed throwing the covers back over her. She rolled back over onto her side and trying not to think of the fact that both of her parents thought she was crazy, she eventually drifted back off to sleep.

So, that's the end of the first chapter. What did you think? Please let me know. :)

Hi April. Just one thing where you say as long as she keeps them in her dreams they will be real. It reads a bit as if God is only real in dreams too. I would reword that a bit . Only a suggestion.

Alright thanks, I will. :)

I just fixed it. I will also be posting The Touch of God on here. I'm really glad that you liked it so far though. Thanks!

Thanks! I'm just doing some stuff on my Fiction Press account and then I will go ahead and post the other story. I haven't been on there in awhile. I can send you the link if you want me too. I've written a whole bunch of stories on there. :)

Here's just a little heads up guys. The Touch of God will be in the Spiritual Growth forum instead. You already know that Tessa, but just in case that somebody else is reading this I'm just letting them know. I want to get more readers. This story has got a very important lesson to it.

I feel like you do a pretty good job of coneying the girl's emotions without explicitly saying her emotions. Like when she ran to her room and slipped back into bed, we are able to see she's upset by what her parents said without it needing to be directly pointed out. This is part of a concept called "show, not tell", and I just wanted to mention that I thought that was executed pretty good, especially for something written on the fly.

Thanks for the reviews guys! The Touch of God was moved over here after all. I just woke up for good today and I will be writing both later when I am more awake. I guess you can thank my years and years of writing, watching movies, and playing pretend as a child. Oh and happy Saint Paddy's Day me lassies! I sure hope that you are wearing green today or expect a few pinches. I'm just kidding on that last part by the way, I don't believe in pinching somebody who isn't wearing green. Go ahead and wear whatever you want. :)

Never mind about posting the parade when I'm more awake, it looks like it doesn't start until this afternoon. One o'clock EST.

Good I will be writing more soon. Right now I'm a bit busy taking care of some other stuff. Happy Saint Patrick's Day Papa! :hug

Alright guys, sorry for the delay but I have been extremely busy today. Anyway, here's the next chapter and please let me know what you think! :)

Chapter Two; A Trip to the Zoo

Lilly stood on top of the beach and looked off into the distance while the wind blew through her hair. She loved the wonderful sensation of the light breeze picking up the scent of the sea and feeling the squishy sand in-between her toes. She took a deep breath and breathed in the scent while the sun beat down upon her face. She smiled as a couple of dolphins leapt up into the air and flipped out in front of her before diving back underneath the water with a humongous splash beneath the crashing waves. That's when suddenly she thought she saw something in the distance. She squinted her eyes and moved her head in towards the bolder that was sitting out in the ocean about ten feet away from her. For what she thought she saw sitting on top of it just couldn't be true. For she thought she saw a mermaid with bright blonde hair like hers wearing a blue top that had a matching tail to go with it fixing her hair every once in awhile stopping to glance at her.

Just when she was starting to wonder whether or not that her eyes were playing tricks on her, she saw the same glowing golden ball of light coming towards her from the opposite direction. "Lilly." it whispered before repeating her name even louder. "Lilly!"

Lilly quickly opened her eyes and found that her mother was gently shaking her awake. "Come on sleepyhead, you don't want to miss your birthday party do you darling?" That's when suddenly Lilly realized that she had been dreaming. She had been so caught up in her dream that she completely forgot about the fact that today was Saturday. That meant that she would be going to the zoo with her friends for her ninth birthday party. She gave out a rather loud gasp before she quickly leapt out of bed and grabbing her clothes quickly rushed into the bathroom.

................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

"Alright now that you all have got your maps, we'll divide you guys up into two groups and one of you can be my group, and the other one can be Mrs. Larson's." Lilly's mother told the group of children while they stood inside the entrance gates. Sarah Larson was one of Lilly's best friends, and Mrs. Larson was her mother. Sarah had a lot darker hair and skin than Lilly had and she had a Hispanic heritage and accent due to the fact that her father originally lived in Spain. Unfortunately she had never known her father since her parents had gotten a divorce when she was just a baby. "Now don't forget to grab a buddy and stick together!" Lilly's mother exclaimed while clapping her hands together loudly. Sarah quickly grabbed onto Lilly's arm and the two girls huddled close together.

As they started walking, Lilly told Sarah about her dream. Sarah was a couple of years younger than her, so the existence of fairies and mermaids didn't seem so abnormal to her. "Wow,..that's pretty amazing. I wish that I had had a dream like that." she said.

"That's just it." Lilly began in hushed tones while she leaned her face close to Sarah's and whispered into her ear. "I really don't think it was a dream. I mean, I know that it didn't really happen, but I think that it might have been trying to tell me something." she explained.

"Really?? What do you think that it was trying to tell you?" Sarah asked her but Lilly just simply shrugged.

"I'm not sure." she admitted before they continued following their group towards the elephant exhibit. Lilly tilted her head back and looked up at the sky. It was a beautiful clear sunny day just exactly the way it had been in her dream. She just hoped that the weather wouldn't suddenly drastically change. She really didn't want to get rained on. After all, it was her special day. Everybody grabbed ahold of their cellphones and started snapping pictures of the elephant as it raised its trunk and started to trumpet. Lilly climbed up onto the railing and looked over the top of it. A huge and wide grin stretched a crossed her face as she suddenly realized that the elephant was a female, and that she was also a mother.

For a small male calf trotted around the corner. "Aww,.." Lilly and Sarah and all of the rest of the girls chorused together while they continued snapping pictures on their phones.

.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

After they finished viewing the elephants, then they went go see the giraffes, then the zebras, and after they had finished seeing all of those animals they went to see the lions and tigers and bears. "Oh my." Sarah said after she saw how much food was piled onto her friend's plate. "Are you sure that you are going to finish all of that?" she asked as Lilly sat down on the opposite of the table and placed her tray of food in front of her and started to eat her lunch.

"I'm sorry." she began while she dipped one of her French fries into the tub of ketchup. "I didn't eat breakfast this morning." she explained.

"Why not?" Sarah wondered. "Were you sick or something?" she inquired.

"No. I didn't have time. I slept in." Lilly replied before she took a bite of her fry.

"I think that your mother said that we're going to go see the monkeys after lunch. And I can't wait! I love monkeys! They're my favorite animals!" Sarah exclaimed excitedly.

"But what about cake and ice cream?" Lilly asked her anxiously as her friend stifled a laugh.

"Don't worry, I don't think that your mother would forget that or give us time for you to open your presents." Sarah told her.

"You don't happen to know if one of them is a pony do you?" Lilly inquired before popping off the lid and then taking a sip of her soda.

"No, sorry. I don't think that it would fit in the car." Sarah said with another laugh before the two girls finished eating their lunch together.

I'm sorry that that took even longer than I expected. I was busy eating dinner.

Busy eating dinner just like Lilly.

I could picture your mermaid and the mother and baby elephant, and I could feel the sand inbetween my toes. So it must have been good. And I wanted to know what's next ☺

Thanks, but she was eating lunch not dinner. I was the one eating dinner. Anyway, thanks! The next chapter has to do with church so I'm not going to write it until tomorrow because I them to learn the same things that I do. I will be posting that some time after I get home as well as a new Easter thread. By the way, I totally forgot to tell you about a conversation that I was having with God one time. I was busy thanking Him for giving me the ability to imagine and pretend because I really loved to create,.. and that's when He told me; "Me too." :)

Alright, so here's the next chapter and I'm really glad that you are enjoying it so far. :)

Chapter Three; Fireflies

After everybody had finished eating their lunch Lilly's mother presented her with her chocolate fudge birthday cake that had nine pink candles (since pink was her favorite color and it matched her nail polish) on top of it that were already lit and that's when everybody started to sing to her. "Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Lilly, happy birthday to you!" they sung out before Lilly grabbed her hair and pulled it back over her shoulder while she closed her eyes and made a wish while she blew out her candles.

"So, what do you wish for?" one of the boys asked her.

"She can't tell you that stupid!" another boy exclaimed. "Otherwise it won't come true!" he cried as Lilly just simply shook her head and rolled her eyes. Why her mother had expected her to hangout with boys was beyond her. They were nothing but rude, filthy and ignorant. That night she had to go to bed early due to the fact that she had to go to church in the morning. She went to the bathroom, brushed her teeth, and then slipped her pink sparkly nightgown over her head and afterwards she knelt down by her bedside and folded her hands to say her prayers. She looked up at the ceiling and started to pray.

"Dear God, thank you for sending your Son Jesus to die on the cross for my sins. I simply ask that you cleanse me of all of them,.. plus all of the cootie germs that I might have caught from Jimmy and all of the other boys at my party. Also, I would really like a pony. And or a unicorn for a pet. Amen." she prayed before she hopped into bed just as her mother had been walking into her bedroom.

"So, did you say your prayers?" she inquired as Lilly just simply nodded her head before brushing strands of hair out of her eyes. "Good, then you better get to sleep. We have got to go to church in the morning." her mother told her softly and soothingly while she pulled the covers up over her body and tucked her in.

"Why doesn't Sarah go to church?" Lilly blurted out before stopping and thinking about what she had been saying.

"Well,.. I don't know honey. Maybe Sarah and her family don't believe in God." her mother told her which Lilly thought that that had fit since Sarah's parents were divorced and she knew from attending Sunday school that that was a sin.

"Why don't they believe in God?" Lilly asked her. "Doesn't that mean that they will go to Hell?" she questioned her mother.

"Well, I wouldn't worry about things like that sweetheart. That's something that God has to sort out for Himself. In the meantime though, I just want you to remember how much God loves you and what a great friend Sarah is. And that you like her for who she regardless of whether or not she's a Christian." her mother told her.

"Okay Mom, I love you." she replied.

"I love you too my little flower." her mother said before leaning over her to kiss her forehead and then quietly turning around, turning off the light switch and exiting the room, softly shutting the door behind her.

The next morning Lilly got up and got dressed. She put on a beautiful pink dress before her mother curled her hair and made her breakfast. Once they had finished getting ready for church Lilly's mother grabbed Alex out of his highchair and then they all drove away in their car together. Afterwards they all climbed out of the car together and slammed their doors tightly behind them before making their way up the gravel parking lot together just as the church bells started to ring.

.....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

"Good morning." the pastor greeted while everyone stood up in their pews.

"Good morning!" they all echoed back at him.

"Welcome to the house of the Lord." he began as some of them cried out "Amen" while he told them to turn their hymn books to 368. As they started to sing, ("How Beautiful Heaven Must Be") all Lilly could think of was that beautiful beach in her dream. "I sure hope that Heaven looks like that." she thought to herself, and just as she was starting to wonder whether or not Jesus liked to swim, they finished singing and were told to sit down. A few announcements and prayer requests were made before they stood up again to sing and make their donations to the offering. Then Lilly went to Sunday school and after that the sermon was made.

The message was all about God's love and how He sent His only Son Jesus to die on the cross, and all about how He conquered death and overcame the world. Once the sermon was over it was Lilly's turn to sing in the children's choir, (they sang Jesus Loves Me) the pastor led them in prayer, and then before they knew it Lilly was headed back home again for lunch. Although she liked getting dressed up for church, she was very happy once she could put on her play clothes again which was a white shirt and a pair of pink stripped overalls. Lilly's mother braided her hair before letting her daughter do her own and then Lilly skipped back outside to play. She rode her bike for awhile, and then she played on her swing set, and in her sandbox. Before she knew it the day was over and it was time for bed.

"Come on Mother! I don't want to go to bed yet." Lilly began sleepily before giving out a rather large yawn. "I'm not even tired." she told her.

"I'm sorry flower, but you've got school tomorrow." her mother told her.

"Oh c'mon Kate, let the girl stay up." her father began.

"Jack,..you're not helping." her mother said while placing her hands upon her hips.

"I know. She really should be getting ready for bed." Jack began. "But just let her stay up for about fifteen minutes or so. I promised her that we could catch fireflies tonight." he explained.

"Yeah, please Mom? Can't I stay up just this once?" Lilly pleaded before her mother took a deep breath and sighed heavily.

"Oh alright, but after you're finished then it's straight to bed with you little missy? Kapish?" she questioned her.

"Kapish." Her daughter responded before she raced towards the garage and grabbed the glass jars. Then she headed straight towards the front yard where her father was and unscrewed the lid of her jar.

"Just so you know, I'm not sure whether or not you're going to catch anything tonight sweetheart." her father began. "There's hardly any fireflies out tonight." he told her. For in five minutes they only saw about two or three fireflies and Lilly caught neither of them. "I told you Lilly, I think that we probably picked a bad night. It's just too cold out for them tonight." he said. "We better head inside." he told her before she took a deep breath and sighed heavily.

"Yeah, maybe you're right." she said sadly with a shrug of her shoulders, but just when she started turning around she saw a bright ball of light soaring straight towards her out of the corner of her eye. "Wait a minute!" she exclaimed with a gasp before she quickly scooped up the light into the jar and screwed the lid on tight. "I got one!" she cried before her father turned to look.

"Wow,.. I've never seen a lightning bug that bright before. Good job Lil." he told her as a wide grin stretched a crossed her face while she carried the jar inside. "I caught one Mom! It's in here!" she exclaimed.

"Really? Wow, that sure is a bright one. Why don't you put it on your nightstand and then you can start getting ready for bed." her mother told her. Lilly nodded and then carried the jar upstairs to her room. Afterwards she pushed open her bedroom door and then set the jar down on top of her nightstand just like her mother had said. She placed her hands on top of her knees and bent over so that she could examine her prized catch for the first time. However that's when suddenly her mouth fell open. For she hadn't caught a firefly after all,... she had caught a fairy instead.

Wow! Cliffhanger lol :lol Chapter four should be posted some time tomorrow. It's really getting good now isn't it?
