I'm getting to the point where I will try everything once. Caroline is big on the whole, "How do you know you Don't like it if you do not try it" thing. However...If I had to draw the line...usually it means it's a type of fish other than fish sticks or shrimp. Please Note: Caroline Loves tuna helper so that is another thing I will get to try once very soon... :biggrin

A food I wouldn't eat...

I've eaten all kinds of foods. Once, I ate bull**** but that's because a girlfriend gave it to me, "here, try this" - and popped a silver dollar sized slice into my mouth. They (rocky-mountain oysters) taste okay, maybe even good. Pretty much I'm omnivorous but it didn't used to be that way. When I was young I wouldn't eat anything that touched another food. No gravy, no casseroles, spaghetti, no "mac-n-cheese" (because they were 'touching'). Nothing that 'touched'. I made an exception for bread and butter but that was about it. Not peanut butter (if the name included touching? I didn't like it), no sauces, no Italian food, or Mexican, Oriental or any ethnic food for that matter (which I love today). I would eat chicken (and I agree with Fembot about greasy chicken) and would eat fish except tunafish --because I wouldn't eat anything that smelled "funny".

My mom said I was a 'handful'. My sister nick-named me "brat", but only in the most affectionate way. And I have sat at the dinner table for hour upon hour (literally), time and time again, under the command, "Just one taste before you are dismissed, young man." -or- "You are not getting down until you take one bite!" Oh, and I didn't eat meat either. Only hamburgers and then only on a bun, completely dry (or 'with nothing on it' as I called it).

My mom was a nurse and worried that I wasn't getting enough protein so she would make me "special" milkshakes where she'd sneak an egg into the blender as she mixed the milk and ice cream. Oh, I had two other things that I would eat voluntarily, Sugar Frosted Flakes®, candy bars and "Sugar sandwiches" <<---- my favorite food in the world. That came when I made my second exception to the "Rule of Touching". It was okay for bread and butter to touch and it was especially okay if sugar would touch very well between the slices. :yes

I didn't eat McDonalds® at all until I was 19 years old. Wasn't one of the 19 Billion served. That was the time that I accepted teaching about not eating "unclean" things from a pastor. Not that big of a deal to me. In fact, it kinda made sense and helped me to expand my dietary habits. Never ate spaghetti until after I was married and my new wife served it to me. I didn't want to offend her and from then on I had a different idea about touching. So after that (many years after) my diet expanded again quite a bit toward the omnivore range. Bugs? Yes I have, but won't. Same goes for other things called "unclean" including bacon (have but won't) and fried pork rinds (used to love them and "sneak" them -without condemnation- until I accidentally got one wet - if you love them, never, never do that).

Now? My habits have changed. They are still strange. I doubt that I'll ever eat Sugar Frosted Flakes® again.

No no no baked-ta-beans!

I will gladly take jelly beans though! :yes

One thing I will absolutely not eat are Brussels sprouts, disgusting. They've only got one purpose in life and that's to be hit with a cricket bat :yes.

I'll eat just about any meat, including dog, crocodile, bears etc.

But I'm allergic to peanuts, so they're a no no.
