At sundown on September 24th begins the Feast of Trumpets. It begins with the sounding of the shofar.
This is known today as Rosh Hashanah.
This is a time of self-examination in preparation for Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, the holiest of days for the Jews.
It is common for Jews to read the Akedah at this time of year, which is the binding of Isaac and it leads to the promises of God given to Abraham concerning the Jews.
Now Christians (in general) do not celebrate these holidays nor do they know where they are mentioned in Scripture.
None the less, it is as good a time as any for Christians to examine their hearts to see where they stand with God.
A time to repent of our sins (yes, me too) and know that our atonement is in Jesus Christ.
Lamentations 3:40;
"Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord".
Just think, you might meet a Jew and know what to say, and a door may open to share the Gospel.
Happy Roshanah!
