normally, I usually don't photograph a lot of things of nature. I have and do have photos but it isn't something I normally photo outside of the moon or the sun over a favorite subject. but this big red rose at the in laws caught me eye. my wife pointed it out as we once had a rose that she planted when I was away for the guard for a month and was the same color. playing with tint and then making it a black and white with clarity created this effect.

thinking of the black dahlia but it fits.

same rose, tint and color adusted and tint was set a bit towards the lower end. I also added clarity and contrast to the color first then when to the black and white. funny how the same rose gave me totally different effects.

I have one more, the stemen.I tried to zoom in on that with my camera, it wouldn't let me so I had to step back

This is a fantastic image. Precisely focused right where it counts. And I love the bokeh; the out of focus background enhances the sharpness.

I hope you don't mind; I wanted to see how much more detail was in that image, so I tweaked it a bit.

Just a beautiful image. What camera and lens were you using?

a Nikon 3400, my zoom lens at max as I stood back to get that. I believe was at about 10 feet. my camera keeps a log when I hit the file. oh I know, if I used gimp I could have done better but I cant upload to imgur with gimp, so I would have to use a snippit file and then posted it.

Just save to your computer from gimp, and then upload to imgur.

Or get a fee account at Flickr (one terabyte free)

I have the program on my laptop, problem is once I use it only gimp can read it.i use a snipping tool

Ah, instead of hitting "save as", use "export to" then indicate the location you want on your computer, and it will save as a jpeg, not the GIMP format, which only GIMP uses.

I know, it's stupid, but there you are.
