A WRITER'S PRAYER

Oh, Lord, I'm just a woman
Created by Thy hand
Full of human emotions
I don't always understand
You have given unto me
A voice, and I must write
Words are the substance of my life
My joy and my delight
My pen speaks of love and laughter
My pen may speak of sorrow
Or tell of shining yesterdays
Or peer into tomorrow
My pen may speak of feelings
Of lies spoken, trust betrayed
Oh, Lord, how it saddens me
When these slip unto the page
Lord please guide my fingers
As I put them to this task
Let my pen speak only peace
Oh, Lord, I humbly ask
Let me speak of mercy
Let me speak of love
Let me tell of a risen Savior
And a home with Thee, above

A thousand clamoring voices
Descended on my ears
Of shattered dreams and blasted hopes
Of guilts and doubts and fears
Perfect pandemonium
From without and from within
Until I could hear nothing
Except the deadly din
Never before so many thoughts
Filling me with dread
Never before so many things
To be done or to be said
It seemed I just had to listen
Till I heard a Voice inside me say
"Be still and know that I am God"
So I struggled to obey
I shut my ears to every sound
And soon the clamor ceased
Oh, the joy of silence!
The bliss of my release!
And then I heard a Still Small Voice
Deep within my soul
Speak to me so tenderly
Of a Love that would make me whole
Now my prison has been opened
My spirit has been healed
My Lord has filled me with His Love
By His Truth revealed

Are these the members of your church?
Do you know which one you are?
But where is Mr. Humble?
And where is Mrs. Meek?
Who comforts the sorrowing?
Who is strengthening the weak?
Chances are, you do not know them
Although it might seem odd.
For these are those who truly do
The Holy Will of God
