So, we know Adam had a bunch of kids. We also know the two famous children of his, Cain and Able. My question is, did Adam have kids while still in God's graces? It's pretty much speculation, as I see it, since the Bible doesn't say one way or the other. I just find it hard the believe he didn't. He was told to make like rabbits by God, so why wouldn't he have done that while in Eden? And if he did have kids, they'd be safe from the fall right? Since they came before sin and death came unto the world via Adam's not-so-bright idea?

Depends on how long you think they lasted in the garden before they messed up.

For what it's worth.... A couple bible studies under a Rabbi ... his take was they sinned very quickly.

How long would you take to test the law/fruit ?

Pard from how i read you we both would have tasted quickly!

I'm allergic to fruits from trees... So I'd have probably gone all eternity without eating the apple/pear/peach/what-have-you, that or it would be my first fruit and then after eating it I'd immediately suffocate to death. :biggrin

So maybe they didn't have enough time to have a kid, but they could have conceived, I mean that takes like, what, ten minutes at the most? Wouldn't that child still be above sin, since he was conceived before sin entered the world?

Think Pard

No allergies until after ya ate the fruit.

I dunno, I'm pretty good at doing what I'm told... But yeah I guess I would, that's the point right? We have all sinned because we all would have taken that fruit if we were in Adam's shoes...

hmmmmm, Eve holding the forbidden fruit or Eve herself? Which would be the most desirable. :chin

Death entered into the world through Adam, and the whole of creation suffers for it, so I don't think that them having children prior to the Fall would have "inoculated" (for lack of a better word) those children from the effects of sin. After all, the animals were there prior to Adam even, and they die as well.

That said, the Bible doesn't make mention of them "knowing" each other until after their removal from the Garden. But, that doesn't necessarily mean that they didn't, just that it wasn't mentioned. Another thing is that it only describes Adam and Eve receiving clothing from God, and being removed from the Garden.

It's very well possible that Eve was pregnant when they sinned, but we'll never really know for sure.

Interesting. Here is God telling Adam and Eve to have children before they were kicked out of Eden.

Genesis 1:
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

But only man was sent out of Eden.

Genesis 3:
22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Genesis 4:
1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

Adam only knows his wife Eve after they were sent out of Eden. And then Eve says she has gotten a man from the LORD. She says this for the first time.
Adam and Eve didn't have children until after they were sent away from Eden.
So we can be sure from the Scriptures.

I'm surprised I'm not hearing any "sixth day" and "eighth day" creation stories crashing this thread so far. Nothing like adding more Babylon, I mean, confusion. :lol
