I've heard lots of good advice over the years. Much of it from my dad.
When you stop being better, you stop being good.
You don't have to lie to get a job, you don't have to steal to get ahead.
Walk around with some honor. Don't be a punk. Don't be that guy!
Treat the girls good, try to be a gentleman to them.

Even during my marriage when I wasn't really walking with God, I was trying to be an honorable man. (I'm sure I failed all over the place in many things, but still...)
In retrospect, I think I was prolly too nice to my Wife. But I was trying to be loyal & loving so pumped her up a bit more than the reality if it all...
I should of been a spiritual leader to her.
I pray for her still.
Other things my dad told me were;
Give the single moms and widows a break on my charges for work. (I did too. I do)
You'll only be as good a man as the people you associate with...so don't hang out with the losers and druggies...

He served in ww2,and passed in 2000.Grandparents seen to know us very well.

I bet he had a lot of stories to tell.
I'm an oldie. My grandfather served in WW1. I used to ask him loads of questions. He was in the trenches with his horse, it used to bite him. He was only young when made deaf from the grenades.
My mother and father and others in the family served in ww2.
The family was blitzed in ww2. They lost everything including members of the family.
My mother passed away the year after your grandfather.
