As somebody who has suffered from allergies most of my life I'm just curious about a couple of things, why do some people have them and some don't? And considering the fact that I don't have my cat allergies anymore? How do you suddenly get over them?

Do you still have the same kind of cat?
I used to be allergic to Siamese cats. Other kinds didn't bother me.
But I am not allergic any more. Maybe because that was over 50 years ago and I've developed an immunity.
Increasing your intake of vitamin C commonly helps with allergies. (I take 2000 mg a day - when I get a bad cold I increase that to 5000 mg per hour. It usually kills the cold in about 4 hours.)

No, this was a long time ago that I developed my cat allergy. I think I was either seven or eight when my first cat died. That's really interesting about Vitamin C though. I usually just take over the counter medication that my doctor prescribes. I'm still highly allergic to dust, pollen, cotten, and ragweed though.

Increase your C.
Do you live were they grow cotton?
Or do you mean cotton fabric?

No, a cottenwood tree grows out in my backyard. In the spring (I think) when the cotter starts falling through the air is when I sneeze like crazy. I should also add that since this is winter I think it's a little off topic because I don't think that it's related to allergies, but I have been feeling a lot of dizziness and pressure in my head lately.

Depends on the allergy and its severity. I have a severe allergy to peanuts. Anaphylaxis. That allergy isn't going anywhere.

But as a young kid I had a mild intolerance to eggs. That's all gone now.
