Ps 4: 1 Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness...

Ps 3: 4 I was crying to the Lord by my voice, And He answered me from His holy mountain

If I cry out to my wife I get an answer, if I care to listen to it. The Lord is a person. Yeah, God is spirit, but He is a person. He is in the Kingdom of God but that kingdom is in our midst, so you can hear from Him, if you call upon Him.

Now I see a problem that I often have, and if me perhaps not only me. I often talk to God but don't listen for what He has to say. And another thing, I often think about Him but don't even call upon Him. And sometimes I read and study the Bible but don't really think about the person of God, nor think about calling out to Him and expecting and answer.

When I talk to other Christians I often find out that they don't or rarely hear His voice. I remember the senior church pastor that told me he had only heard from the Lord three times in his life. I also remember the elderly lady who was that faithful church secretary for thirty six years but had never heard the voice of the Lord. I have met many Christian like that.

With the lady that had never heard the small voice of the Lord in her 36 years serving at church, I just had her call upon the Lord and ask Him how He felt about her, and He answered her! She heard Him for the first time ever. I am not sure how many, and I never kept a count, but I would guess that I have gotten well over a hundred different people to call on the Lord and they heard Him for the first time ever. Sadly, almost all of them were Christians that somehow never got this calling on the Lord and Him answering explained to them. We can see that it is right there in the Bible, and our preachers are supposed to be telling people about Jesus Christ our Lord.

The Lord is worth knowing and getting answers from. By faith (that belief that God is really there to be heard from) we can call upon the Lord, and He answers you. If you care to believe it.

Ps. Here is a helpful hint: Since we hear by faith, start by asking the Lord for something simply to believe for, like asking Him what He thinks of you. Then try to keep the conversation going and slowly ask Him for answers that might be a bit more difficult to believe for. With practice, your faith and your ability to hear from Him will improve. :)
