Daniel 12:3-4
But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

It is written here in Daniel that many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. A few questions: Why are they running to and fro? Is it because the books have been sealed? What is the knowledge that shall be increased?

Is it the knowledge of good and evil that is increased? Or could we say it is the knowledge of God that is increased?

Amos 8:11-13
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God,
that I will send a famine in the land,

not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water,
but of hearing the words of the Lord:
And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east,
they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it.
In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.

They run to and fro seeking the word of the Lord, but they shall not find it. In light of this scripture from Amos, we can probably conclude that it is not the knowledge of the Lord that is increased. Does this leave us then with the knowledge of good and evil? A fruit as old as the garden. A fruit that deceived Adam and Eve. And in that day the fair virgins shall thirst. The same foolish virgins from the parable in Matthew 25:1-13. The foolish virgins, fainting from thirst, running to and fro looking to buy from those who would sell, seeking the word of Lord and not finding it. But the knowledge of good and evil is not hidden from them, and so they add to their knowledge of good and evil.

Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased... The fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, the temptation used by the serpent to deceive.

Many shall run to and fro: If the Spirit of the Lord comes to you, why would you run to and fro seeking him?

And the Knowledge of many shall be increased: As a Christian, is it your knowledge you seek to increase? Or do we seek to increase our Faith? If the Righteousness of God is revealed through Faith, then what is this knowledge that shall be increased?

Isn't the Bible like a seed from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil?
From it we learn what sin is from the Law?
From the Holy Spirit we really learn what Sin is?

Don't we seem to be running somewhere all the time & too busy to do much of anything that's really important?

The foolish virgins return to run to buy from those who sell, running to and fro seeking the word of the Lord, and not finding it; For the books have been sealed, and yet knowledge shall increase.

Isaiah 29:9-12
Stay yourselves, and wonder;
cry ye out, and cry:
they are drunken, but not with wine;
they stagger, but not with strong drink.

For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep,
and hath closed your eyes:
the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.
And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed,
which men deliver to one that is learned,
saying, Read this, I pray thee:
and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:
And the book is delivered to him that is not learned,
saying, Read this, I pray thee:
and he saith, I am not learned.

Interestingly enough, this passage is referenced in the book of Acts when the Holy Spirit is poured out on the day of Pentecost.

Acts 2:12-16
And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

When do dreamers dream dreams? In a deep sleep?

Isaiah 29:13
Wherefore the Lord said,
Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth,
and with their lips do honour me,
but have removed their heart far from me,
and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

Isn't the Bible like a seed from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil?

Yes, I agree with that. What did the serpent say to Eve of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil?
It is a fruit to be desired, one to make you wise.... You shall be as gods.....

What do Christians declare about the Bible when they hold it up as THE WORD of God and only authority? Is it a book to be desired, an book to make you wise..... Why you shall be as the Sons of God.....

If you can see the Bible as a seed from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, what does that mean to you? Would it effect how you might look at the scriptures?

From it we learn what sin is from the Law?

Yes, from it we learn what sin is, but not just from the law. Sometimes it seem as if we create new sins for ourselves daily. But from the Law and from the Bible we learn the commandments unto death.

From the Holy Spirit we really learn what Sin is?

I can agree with and disagree with this statement at the same time. I would agree in the sense that we will learn what Sin really is, for all flesh is grass (Isaiah 40:6-8). Where I would disagree would be in the sense that it is the work of the Holy Spirit to teach us what sin is.

No, it means that knowledge shall be increased both ways. Worldly knowledge, and the knowledge of God. For a long time I used to think it was worldly knowledge, but then I learned that it is indeed the knowledge of God also.

You can see it all around you. Worldly knowledge is exploding...and the knowledge of God is increasing also. The proof is in how much people debate and argue about the mysteries of heaven. There's so much new stuff about God going around that it's incredible.

The Apostle Paul said, " According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 3:10-11).

As we grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18), we must remember our body is the temple of the Holy Ghost (1 Corinthians 6:19). There can be no works in the temple. Only the Finished Work of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ can be added by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 3:18).

The Way Of The Spirit
Focus: The Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:6)
Object Of Faith: The Cross of Christ (Romans 6:1-14)
Power Source: The Holy Spirit (Romans 8:1-2, 11)
Results: Victory (Romans 6:14)

Man's Way

Focus: Works.
Object Of Faith: Performance.
Power Source: Self.
Results: Defeat!

As we study the House of the Lord, the Temple that Solomon built (Type); all construction of the Temple were finished at a quarry, so there was no sound of hammer, ax, or any other iron tool heard in the House, while it was in building (1 Kings 6:7). The same with us, there must be no labor inside the Temple where the Holy Ghost dwells inside of us. Only the Finished Work that was done at the Calvary's Cross can be added to the Believer. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! Quiet please!

Joel 2:28; Acts 2:17 (actually read the verses before and after these two verses)
Both these verses speak about God pouring out His Spirit in the last days. There was a time when God shut Himself off from Israel for 490 years which could have sent people going to and fro looking for truth, Malachi 1-4. Truth would finally come when Jesus started His ministry and selected those servants of Christ to take truth out to the world after they were indwelled/filled with the Holy Spirit who teaches us all Spiritual things of God He wants us to know, John 14:26 (Increased knowledge in the last days).

How is the knowledge of God increased? By what measure do you consider it increasing? Can you expound on your thoughts a bit?

And the promises of God are often fulfilled two and xometimes three times. The prophecies of Edom, known by the markings described have been fulfilled three times. First in Edom, then in Rome of the Roma n empire and finally in the city of DC, the U,S, of A. (Obadiah) But not just Obadiah, from there it is sprinkled throughout scripture.

God pouring out His Spirit. The Promise of His second coming. Just pointing out, that the prophecy from Joel said he would pour out his Spirit upon ALL flesh, not just those who believe; but to those who look for him he shall appear a second time.

Mathew 24:25-26
Behold, I have told you before. Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

Could you say that the people Jesus is warning them of are running to and fro seeking the word of the Lord? Behold, he is in the desert...?

You pointed to the 490 years prior to Jesus. Then Truth came by Jesus, but even after that we are told that the scripture remains hidden, sealed.

2 Corinthians 3:14-15
But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

But there is a different time that I am looking at here. When the thousand years are finished, and Satan is released to go deceive the nations again. How does Satan deceive the nations? How did Serpent deceive Eve? By tempting them to eat the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil.

Just an interesting thought, but on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was poured out, everyone did hear in their own tongue and dialect, and they all were amazed. In today's day and age, the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, the Bible can be read in nearly every language and with multiple translations. How does that work towards those who run to and fro, and knowledge increasing? Still seeking the Word of God, but not finding it.

sometimes, i wonder if maybe God has cut a lot people off from His voice, at least...in more affluent, developed nations. i believe i have experienced miracles since The Lord willed to save me, but I find that many Christians, even here in The Bible Belt, prefer to call me "Schizophrenic," rather than face a God who might do miracles ((for --that guy--, no less..LOL)).

Meanwhile, it seems from what I've heard from Christians who have gone overseas...The Lord moves mightily in the lives of "the least of these" all over the place, especially in less developed, less affluent nations. My sense is that the cultures of a lot of those nations are different from those of more secularized, affluent nations. They may be mired in false religion and all, but they aren't so secularized and puffed up with worldly wisdom that they've given up all respect for the concept of The Divine.

In the US, in particular, it seems that segments of Christianity have been bought out by Big Business. There's actually a scholarly book or two on this that I've been meaning to get...the idea is that, after The New Deal, the more conservative elements of the business elite and their backers poured money into elements of Protestantism in America. The investment has paid off, many many many times over, of course. I guess I'm saying...a lot of what passes for Christianity today is a tool of the elite, just like with any other belief system.

If what a lot of people are told is "real" Christianity is owned and operated by Big Business, it stands to reason that many people are attracted to Truth...sort of like moths to a flame...but they're not getting what they really need from their McChurch. How could they? Having an instinctive need for the Truth, but then being unable to find it in the places one assumes it could be found would lead many people going to and fro, seeking the authentic Word of God...and still being unable to find it, sadly enough.

This is an interesting discussion, btw.

How is the knowledge of God increased?

This is done by the Holy Spirit whether through revelation or illumination of the scriptures.

By what measure do you consider it increasing?

By what measure? Just observation I guess. A lot of new stuff is being gleaned about the scriptures that wasn't being discussed before, even twenty years ago. Plus the scriptures themselves say that knowledge will be increased in the last days and here we are.

Can you expound on your thoughts a bit?

Sure, twenty years ago, it was pretty much Sunday school as usual. But now, people are preaching a lot of different stuff. Like Prophecy. There wasn't even a paradigm for prophecy in years past. If you wanted to work for the Lord, you went into ministry or missionary That was it. New teachings on Translation by faith, healings are going on all over the place because more people are learning that they can do this in Christ, and all sorts of stuff that wasn't taught before. Technology helped them to find bible codes. Technology makes it so much easier to study that a lot of Brothers and Sisters are learning a lot more than they were ever taught in Sunday School.

Look around you Brother, the world is exploding in new revelations from Christ and the scriptures. A lot of it isn't well received because much of it differs from old time teachings and some of it is really...twilight zone.

You asked: Could you say that the people Jesus is warning them of are running to and fro seeking the word of the Lord? Behold, he is in the desert...?
I would say no as Jesus is warning them of the false Christ and false prophet to not believe what they say nor the signs and wonders they use to deceive them especially when these people are going to and fro looking for truth. The scriptures remain hidden and sealed from those who have not the word of God in them. God will pour His Spirit out on all flesh that are seeking Him and they will know He is Lord.

When Satan is released for awhile, Rev 20:7-10, he will gather his unholy army of demons who will surround the saints of God would wide, but along with Satan will be be consumed by fire that God sends down from heaven. The reason I believe the army are Satan's demons is because in Rev 19:21 the remnant who are the inhabitants of the earth are those who have taken the mark of the beast sealing their fate and were slain by the sword (words) Jesus spoke against them, Rev 19:21 and before Satan was bound.

I so agree
