My Condolences.

So someone flipped out and responsible adults(teachers) were not armed to defend?.

So what were they suppose to do, call the cops and wait half an hour for them to arrive and protect the people?

I agree. I do believe that all teachers should be armed today. I really wish that it didn't have to be that way but unfortunately that's the kind of world that we're living in today. It's a really sad fact in itself that we can no longer feel safe about sending our children to school. :sad

Most people wish it didnt have to be that way, but when criminals have advantage everytime and citizens have to rely on the establishments force that could take time to get there, as they are the only people responsible to be armed according to the establishment, when the damage is being done, thats the way it rolls.

Exactly. Then whenever something goes wrong where does everybody point their anger at? Unfortunately it seems like God is always the one people blame for others stupidity.

I live two hours north of Broward county .

A teacher would or the school would be liable for any missed rounds or poor reactions just like cops.it's better to have cops or those who can devote the time to be proficient .I base my statement upon my old co who said only Leo will carry in the armory based on the risk of missing aND failing to act.cops train for that and are more likely to react properly.

A ccl is easy to get but the requirements for this should be a bit tighter to include shoot,no shoot.

Yes that's true but teachers are usually trained for these kind of things as well. After all, why else would they have drills? And it's like kiwidan said, waiting for the cops to arrive would be a risk because what if they got there too late? Having the teacher being armed would have saved a lot more lives during the Sandy Hook tragedy as well. I don't see it by any different from wanting to protect your own children and being armed yourself.

Teachers are not trained in swat like drills.cops are,I have been.it takes practice.a team would have to communicate ,we have a shooter here, form up,and take him out assuming that every teacher is armed.not all want to be,nor should they.

I have to enter schools often I see things .

A ccl requirement is that you shoot 10 rounds once.a cop shoots way more,at small targets then they do and timed.also must have back up and practice if they are hit,and shoot one handed.

Maybe not but watch this; these teachers look pretty tough. Would you want to mess with one if you were the shooter?

It's about liability, and legal expectations.the Samaritan laws here allow me to refuse aid if I dint feel confident enough.a cop and emt have no option.they are paid to respond!

That's my point.in Arizona the sheriff of Maricopa county uses posses to solve this abd he gave them full arresting power abd law training!

Still even though there was some things in that video that I just posted that I didn't agree with... you know all of the fake blood and just springing the shooting drill on them unannounced, you can't deny one thing, they are getting those teachers prepared if worst comes worst. The teachers volunteered to be trained to take down the gunman. At least that's what I got from watching that video. Nobody forced it on them.

What about if teachers had tazers, they could drop a criminal in a second.

They should establish a course then so teachers can do the course then have the right to defend. They only need to learn how to use it and pass a test, thats a day course. Why not every responsible person so everyone can defend.

A taser ,I have qualified on,wouldn't stop a reaction to a gun aimed abd firing .less then lethal is not the response to lethal, usually

as a former teacher, it's sadder than sad. Those poor families and what they are going through. And the rescuers and what they had to witness. I've been praying today for all of it. :/ I don't come to the politics board much anymore but I knew someone would bring this up. I'm glad to see that people are also praying. We need to lift the families up in prayer.
