Peoples minds runs crazy on scripture. One I find amazing is the mark of the beast that everyone goes on about, but its not just a mark, only some have the mark.

"save he that had the mark, OR the name of the beast, OR the number of his name."

But no one seems to talk about having the name or the number, its always the mark of the beast.

Oh, the number has been talked about, a LOT! I think it's pretty clearly the idea that man is perfect without God. Notice this is the consistent message with UFOs.
Nero is said to be the equivalent of 666.

Rev 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

The emphasis is on "a man". The beast out of the earth is a literal man that Satan works through with deceiving signs and wonders as he is the last antichrist before Christ returns as even now he is working his iniquity in the world.

2 John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

Actually the only scripture that mentions antichrist is 1 John 2:18.
2 Thessalonians Chapter 2 gives us the description of this last antichrist.

since I can't read the original languages and only know English I have to believe what is already written in the KJV as it being "a man". whatever, I'm staying away from it as I will never renounce Christ.

As asked earlier I am back to answer where I was reading in Daniel. My bible talks about Antiochus in the commentary and claims a sudden switch to the future about 'the' antichrist that sets up the abomination of desolation. It starts at Daniel 11:21. All through the scripture it talks about this king and he sets up the abomination that causes desolation. Weird that it would suddenly be talking about someone else so seamlessly making you think it was the same person.
Well, if you read specifically from Daniel 11:21 into Daniel 12 and then read Revelation 13, you can kind of compare.

I was reading an in depth bible study last year from bob deffingbaugh, from bible.org. he is well respected. He talks about how people only come to understand much of prophecy only after it has already happened.
