Just playing a little devil's advocate here: Would not being skeptical include the Bible as well? Is fear holding you back?
 
The bible is the word of God, so therefore it is my ultimate source of truth. So I would never be skeptical of it. God has led me to many versus in it that have helped me through some tough times.
 
i have challenged many biblical teachings found in the church. only my eschatology and view of the torah was changed when i really dug deep.

One could view it as a thing of respect to God not to question Him. But...on the other hand, sometimes the road our lives take leads us to questioning God, and that is often when He shows up. At least in my experience. I'm leaning toward that honestly seeking Him is not wrong, whereas questioning His existence simply because you don't want Him to exist, and/or out of anger, would be shakier ground.
But, this is speculation on my part.

There are six major different versions of the Bible containing anywhere from 24 to 81 books. http://bessel.org/bibles.htm Shouldn't a Jew be skeptical about the protestant Bible and a protestant be skeptical about the Catholic Bible? If not, why aren't they all using the same Bible?
 
uhm the jews don't believe in jesus so well they only have the tanach. and they have different translations of that. not all jews are that fluent in Hebrew. a jew in Germany isn't likely to be reading his tanach in Hebrew unless he is made or wanted to be that fluent. most jews don't speak Hebrew. the rabbis will speak it.

You're on the right path, I can tell u that much. Perhaps God is bigger than what you've been told. Either way, the laws are written on your heart and that's what you have to follow. Cheers.

I think the key is the revelation of God in the Scriptures.

This implies searching them daily and prayerfully.
