So yeah anyway since you're not a part of the staff anymore,.. StoveBolts, Nick, questdriven, anybody else in the staff who is reading this since we don't have a suggestion forum actively in use anymore, what say you about the roleplaying idea as long as it follows the rules?
The suggestion forum hasn't gone anywhere Announcements & Feedback.

Not sure what you mean by roleplaying exactly.

I think it may fall under the hobby section. Roleplaying games and the like.
Mmm. Then the lounge is the correct place.

When we got rid of most of the hobby forums they got either merged with the lounge or are now (for some reason) sub-forums of it. (I think that's still a work in progress)

Anyway, off-topic discussions / stuff that doesn't fit anywhere else are now most suited to the lounge.

I know it hasn't actually gone anywhere physically, but I have insufficient privileges of posting there. Roleplaying is basically two people writing a story together but they choose which character they want to write for like say (since I know you like this but I'm only using it a an example and don't worry, for obvious reasons we wouldn't do this one here) you wanted to do a Harry Potter roleplay with somebody. You might choose to write for either Harry and Ron and so you would write what you wanted them to say or do. Does that make sense?

Oh ok. I don't see it being against the ToS. But I wonder if this is the right place to do it, considering it might be difficult to find somebody to write it with you here. No harm in trying, though.

I was just thinking the same thing lol and did you mean I have to message either one of those people to post there?

Yesterday I changed permissions on the Politics forum, and it had a ripple effect from what I think was duplicate indexes...
Sounds like I need to skim every forum and check all the group permissions.... oye.

Have you backed up the style? :)

To have an effective forum, you have to have an effective domain name, and not some random name nobody knows.

Then, you have to know about security so you dont get hacked.

Then you have to know how to manage your forum software.

Then you have to know how to set up SEO search engines know how to find you and your content.

Then you have to generate a lot of content so the search engines know things are changing, so they know how often to crawl your site which will help when people search for certain topics.

This is the basics at a high level.
Yep all that and keep out all the spammers that will eventually show up ugh. I ran one years ago for awhile using some common forum software, took a lot of my time up and eventually had to let it go for that and various other reasons. It is not easy! I have been posting on one Christian forum for almost 20 years now. That site has kind of died due to a number of reasons, competition, Facebook, no moderation or very little except from the site owner and even then often days after an incident requires it. Excessive and repeated abuse from certain members. Many people have left there over the years, some never to return. I see a few of them are here on this forum site too! :) I am trying to bring one active poster from there over here, she should be posting here soon when she has time...
