Are Muscular women attractive?

As a woman who body builds I think some explanation is due.

I have a bad whiplash injury in my neck - many overstretched and damaged ligaments. So the muscles gained from body building keep me from immense pain.

I have very damaged knees from a variety of sources. Body building and bicycling have kept me from needing dual knee replacements for 8 years now.

Where do I body build? In my own gym in my basement.

Who sees me? No one but my husband.

And it is going to stay that way. He likes that I have a few muscles, but more that I don't complain about being in pain all the time. He is proud I have found a way to live comfortably and not use pain medications. He also likes the way I look - although not like a massive body builder. Just a few more curves in the arms and legs than your average woman. And I am probably much healthier for my workouts!
MysticalJourney:

You obviously have a very strong reason for doing it, too.

We ourselves have an exercise bike in our basement, though I tend to use it more than my wife does. I don't think there is anything unfeminine about the activity, anyway.

Blessings.

Do men consider muscular women attractive?
Muscular is a rather ambiguous term, but it seems implied to be more of a body-builders physique. I would say I prefer a women to be fit and healthy. My fiance for example is thin and curvy yet has muscular definition because she does cross-fit, simply put it needs to appear feminine. This pretty much means we need to get married as soon as possible! lol

On a more serious note though, the true beauty that emanates from her comes from within. That's the kind of woman who will be beautiful even in her advanced years. :)

God bless you guys!

And yes, true beauty comes from within.

Do you think she would be a submissive wife, or one who is constantly asserting her independence from her husband? These days, just because a woman says she's a Christian doesn't mean she agrees or abides by the Bible about godly submission. My experience is that few women in the church think the Biblical order of headship applies anymore. But many of them seem to be good Christians otherwise.

Well I can see how a simple question has gone on for 15 pages.....

What you are describing is your interpretation of what "being submissive" means. Further, you are making judgments on someone based on their physical appearance. By extension of your logic, a male body builder could not be a Christian because he would not submit (Hupotasso) to God.

Fact is, many people do it; I could do with getting more exercise than I do. See also MysticalJourney's comments, above, which seem eminently sensible about the benefit of doing it.

But I got a similar impression from comment made on the tattoo thread that people with them were ipso facto being judged for their spirituality on the basis of externals. (No, we don't need to discuss tattoos here.)

Blessings.

Yep.

God wants us to be smart, cautious, and discerning.

I know enough to stay away from a woman who is not just trying to be fit, but who is purposely trying to look like a man. Just as I would stay away from a man who is purposely trying to look like a woman (hair, boobs, etc.).

Sadly, so many people don't know that godly discernment is a God given right and responsibility. It is judging that God does not want us to do. He does not want us to go around condemning people. But somehow 'do not judge' picked up this PC twist that makes it mean we are supposed to be blind to the things people do.

Jethro Bodine, in general but not always. the overly muscular women here( I live in a town with a few gyms) that do body build are not the submissive types. it would be hard to be married to my wife and have men and women look at her body and get envious without either being jealous men who want to bed my wife or the opposite. I have seen the later. its not really Christlike imho. I have seen the workout uniforms of these women and its not that covering. they also must practice the moves. if they aren't "man like" its rather like a strip tease intro. remember its also vanity. they are athletes no doubt but they must hit some illegal drugs to get that big. they deny it but come on. you tell me how a 90lb thing gets to over 130 lbs of pure muscle and is stronger then some men of the same weight class. they also must have faux breasts as those shrink when they take testerone or steroids.

He also does not want us to be judgmental and tells us clearly that that is His job (Romans 14:1-23).

Sadly so many people think they know what Godly discernment is and they are tragically wrong and fall to the sin of pride (Proverbs 6:16-17).

I know the people and I have seen them. they are nice people but IF you aren't into working out. and they want to succeed they wont ALLOW you to hold them down.

I would post the name of a woman who practiced and endorsed women's body building the way women ought to do it, but recently when I googled her name to show my wife I found out she doesn't keep all her clothes on like she did in the muscle mags of the early '80s. :lol:lol

Whoops! :oops Not going there again.
Christian men, don't you go there either.

I don't understand the attraction for men of a woman who looks like a man. And I don't understand why some women want to look like that. And it's pretty obvious they're doing roids to get that way.

PS: Besides, the addition of a thin, ornate armband tattoo or a bracelet can make a muscular biceps seem naturally feminine, I guess.

Blessings.

uh no thanks. I have seen a few of them. its one thing to be firm but another to look like, sound like a man. true story I have met a woman who competed and I thought when I met her was transgender. she had a throat and manly voice.
