Extra weight is not good. It puts a strain on the body, is bad for the heart, and, like you said, who needs that to carry around?
Better to be too thin than too fat.

You made me chuckle. I was guilty of enjoying the finest beer in the world and schnitzel a bit too much and it had not hindered my, somewhat, rotund little behind suffered the first three months in Vietnam's famous heat and living in Texas I swore, never again. I would love to have the Six Pack stomach again but I can walk, let alone exercise. LOL!
My wife and I are on the DASH diet. I track my food here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ and I've lost about 3 pounds. Now if I add exercise.....at least walking, I'll be able to shed pounds faster. need to lose about 25. No more donuts.
All my important muscles are toned. My right arm that I use to raise my fork to my mouth gets a work out 4 times a day: breakfast, lunch, supper, and then a snack before bed. I used a tuning fork to see if I have tone and found out that I have C fat (there is no L in that word). I am 6ft. 1in tall and weight about 250 lbs. I use what fat I have as insulation in the winter.
