Actually, I am reading a lot of analysis and reviews of her writing. Being an almost life-long Christian, I, of course, disagree TREMENDOUSLY with her on spiritual issues and also disagree with her ideas on morality. I would THINK that goes without saying. And to make statements that "she was an atheist" makes me want to simply say, "thank you, Captain Obvious".


But her economic views and how she sees what she calls "the looter" mindset, the "creator" mindset as well as her views on freedom - all make perfect sense to me. I work very hard, long hours to earn what I make; I do not believe I owe anyone anything more than the ever-to-high- 25-28% that I pay in taxes. I will post more later.

At one point I tended toward atheistic existentialism. I also liked literature and there are a raft of writers out there who are atheistic and non- Christian in their views. As with music and a song writer's lyrics an author's philosophical views are reflected in the books he writes, in the themes of his novels. This may seem anti-intelectual but I find even much of what is regarded as great literature unedifying. I even found John Steinbeck's the Grapes of Wrath to be pornographic. As a Christian how seriously do you take your take your faith and what you fill your mind with? Christianity should be a way of life, Christian values should be consistently applied throughout the day, irregardless of how the World views this. I also have a problem with Objectivist philosophy which is decidedly anti- Christian in its morality. Ayn Rand's novels were written to vindicate Objectivist moraility and philosophy.

Sounds good. I agree with a lot of her views on individualism and if you read the Fountainhead, Howard Roark's character is the perfect example of the individual in Rand's writings with his iron will and attitude/ work ethic. I relate a lot to Rand's ideals on how to measure people and its a main reason why I left my former job where I spent to much time on office politics and never felt fulfilled.
