“Attitude Control”
By Zach Wood
Romans 12:2

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

This passage came up today on the Bible app on my phone as the passage for the day. It reminded me of the sermon on Sunday as we looked at how our attitudes can determine the day we have. I find it easy sometimes to let my attitude become worldly and focus on things that are not pleasing to God. It’s not my intention at all to be this way, but with the craziness of life and how Satan likes to get his foot “in the door”, it becomes easy to be negative.

It’s often easy for us to become like the world and how the world thinks. The Apostle Paul gives us a very important reminder that our attitudes and mind cannot follow the pattern of this world. If we are to be a witness to people around us and be encouraging, we must go against the flow and be different. It’s hard to do that, but exactly what Christ calls us to do.

It’s important for us to be very intentional every single day to start with a Christ-like attitude and continue that through the day. It’s challenging and often difficult, but Christ gives us the strength to carry through. Before our attitudes can change, we must let God transform us. Our minds and hearts need to be transformed before our attitude changes.

It is my prayer that we all desire for a renewal of our minds to the likeness of Christ and not of this world. It’s a daily renewal process for us to experience. We absolutely must be intentional every day to live our lives for Christ. If we are not intentional about it, the enemy will try to take over.

Let us not conform to this world, but be transformed by God.

This is one that comes cross my mind often mostly while Im at work where I have the hardest time with attitude.I manage to pull through but I look all around and I just have a strong dislike for all the materialism and shallowness I see ,I wont go into detail but I have been feeling a pull for a while now to quit my job there but the logical part of my mind says I make good money for working retail there and I cant afford to leave there.I try to remember everyone is different and not everyone is into the same things as me ,the minimalism, all the other weird hippy stuff Im into lol. Here lately Ive been trying to relate to the fact that there a few people who come around so often and they are very down to earth and actually have really cool stories and things they are into ,it really keeps me going and I learn new stuff .

I am transforming my ways but, I am in a leadership role on the job. I am a manager. Learning to no be a push-over but get things done and motivate people in a humble way is not my strength. At Sunday school we sing, "I am weak but, he is strong". I am struggling with the be strong and assertive but, not offend my Lord and Savior

Welcome Clover me to the forums I pray it will be a blessing to you as you are a blessing to us for being here.

Even in management we learn to manage others as we allow Christ to mange our life. You are a child of God with His integrity inside of you. When you manage and motivate others around you do so in that manner of integrity and humility to let others know that you are human, but yet want what is best for the business as in what you do, you do for the glory of the Lord.

Hello Clover me, you described that brilliantly.

I agree, management is an important role, however you must be guided by God's word.

I am a director in my fathers company, I understand that respect is what your employees want and I express this by God being the guiding light.

I think sometimes that trying to will my attitude to change is an exercise in futility. I can't fix a human problem with human thinking... but while I may not always be able to change my attitude on a whim, I can choose daily to "put on the full armor of God*" as soon as I wake, to defend myself against the enemy's schemes. The more I practice "God-consciousness," the less life's superficial problems seem to faze me. The smaller I am in my own sight and the bigger God is, the easier it is for me to see everything else in its proper perspective. When I start slacking on prayer and bible study, it doesn't take long before I'm living in my own will again - worrying about MY comfort, MY pleasure, MY (worldly) reputation... and that's always a recipe for disaster. Because of my sin nature, I repeatedly fall back into selfish thinking. But maybe God uses that to keep me humble and remind me that I can do nothing good - not even something as simple as change my attitude - without looking to Him. When I humble myself before Him and seek His face He never fails to restore me.

*Eph 6:11
