Yeah I just got a popup about five or ten minutes ago and I'm not really sure whether or not it's actually genuine or just a scam. It said that my location has been exposed. Does anybody here really know what that means? And if you do should I be worried?

You got that popup on this forum? or was it on Goggle or something else? I would say to never respond to anything of that sort.

Yeah, while I was on this forum it popped up on the bottom of my screen and I just got a little concerned about my privacy. I didn't respond to it of course thinking that it was probably a scam.

Windows will tell you when a web site is asking for your location. Sometimes a web site will ask for your location so that an ad can tailor their ads to your locale. A weather web site will ask so it can give you local weather. You can refuse permission for anyone to learn your location if you want to. It can be a little complicated. Some people ask a friend who is good with computers for help. The directions are in this article if you want to try yourself.

No, nothing was a message asking me for permission to give my location. It just simply stated while I was on here that my location had been exposed.

The Windows pop up will just tell you that someone has asked for your location. It won't wait around for your permission before giving your location, and quickly disappearing.

Alright thanks because that's exactly what it did. It just told me that my location had been exposed, showed me where my exact location was on Google maps and then disappeared and it really scared me knowing that people on here might be able to see it.

Oh, that's something different. It might be an ad trying to get you to buy their computer security product. Your computer might also have a virus. It should be scanned.

I usually surf with JavaScript turned off because its safer.

Ok. But you can't see my exact location on here right? Because I really am starting to worry.

Okay, then you don't have to worry. AVG sends ads like this.

If you don't want web sites to know your location, ask a friend who is good with computers to turn off permission for web sites to locate you.

Alright. As long as nobody on here is able to trace me into my exact location. Thanks for all of your help! :hug

I apologize. I turned off my Tracker program.
