Pegasus,

The case in the UK is much worse than that. Barna Research found this in its 2015 research:

Forty percent of people in England do not believe Jesus was a real person, a Church of England survey suggests.

However, 43% of the people asked said they did believe in the resurrection - although many did not think it happened as described in the Bible.

The figures found while 57% classified themselves as Christian, fewer than 10% read the Bible and prayed regularly, or go to church at least once a month.

The Church of England's General Synod will discuss the survey in November.

The survey of more than 4,000 people was commissioned by the Church, Hope - which represents churches of all denominations - and the Evangelical Alliance - which represents evangelical Christians in the UK.

Many scholars agree that Jesus was a real man, who lived in Galilee more than 2,000 years ago, although many details surrounding his life are still debated.

But, the Church of England survey found that four in 10 people did not believe Jesus was a real person, with a quarter of 18 to 34 year olds believing he was a mythical or fictional character.

The poll was part of a wider research project looking at both practising Christians and the wider population.

After Christians, the second biggest group identified in the poll - 12% - were atheists, while 9% were agnostics, Muslims represented 3%, with Hindus and Jews both making up 2% (Jesus 'not a real person' many believe, BBC News, 31 October 2015).

Sad isn't it? The UK for centuries was a strong Christian nation, with Tyndale and others shedding their blood to translate the Scriptures (Hebrew and Greek) into English for the common man to read.
And through Satan's influence it has come to what the polls show.

All the top history scholars in the world believe its historically reliable that Jesus was a real man who walked the earth and was crucified.

If i can believe the ceasors and there face is literally on a coin as evidence, and there is more witness and writings about Jesus both biblical and non biblical, its really undeniable evidence Jesus is not a made up charactor and was crucified. I guess thats why 93% believe. Even the devils believe, even people who hate Jesus believe he was a real person.

Always surprised by Barna's findings. Americans take kind of strange positions on things would you look at it that way. You can kind of see them believing what they want to believe according to what makes them feel good, yet stable

Therefore to say anything else like; "Jesus is God" is adding to Scripture through the use of systematic theology.
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 He was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
Joh 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Joh 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
Joh 1:7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him.
Joh 1:8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.
Joh 1:9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.
Joh 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.
Joh 1:11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.
Joh 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,
Joh 1:13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
Joh 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
So, what else do you not understand?

So what is John 1:14 referring to?......"The Word became flesh"...... I mean how can "instructions and message" take on actual flesh?.....unless you disbelieve John? And if Jesus is not God incarnate then exactly who is he?

The Word is personified through Y'shua. The Word is the instructions and message of YHVH.

Instruction and message? Interesting. Lets replace Word and Him with "instructions and message"

1In the beginning was the "instructions and message", and the "instructions and message" was with God, and the "instructions and message" was God. 2 The "instructions and message" was with God in the beginning. 3Through the "instructions and message" all things were made; without the "instructions and message" nothing was made that has been made. 4In the "instructions and message" was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
14The "instructions and message" became flesh and made his dwelling among us.

When I read John it seems as if the Word is a it more than "instructions and message"

To answer the last question first; "....then exactly who is he?"
- Matthew 11:27 "No one knows the Son except the Father" There are a variety of valid speculations, yours is the most popular among mainstream Christians. However, it is just that; 'speculation', nothing that should be a condition of salvation.
That puts you on heretical ground. Not believing Jesus is God puts you outside Christianity, mainstream or otherwise.
YHVH can become flesh because He is a person, one of 3 of the Trinity, which it seems you don't believe in either. The word, as you interpret it (instructions and message) are not a person.....I have no idea what you think that is so I won't even guess.
But a good example getting us closer to a correct understanding would be when YHVH appeared to Abraham in the form of a man/messenger/angel. If no man can see YHVH and live, then the One who appeared to Abraham was a "agent" of YHVH. Like the angel who lead the Israelites in wilderness who had YHVH's name in him. No doubt YHVH was operating through Y'shua, but this doesn't necessarily make him "God".[/QUOTE
You really seem to have no grasp of (or belief in) the Trinity or Jesus as God so I don't believe an attempted explaination would serve much purpose at this point......

Because it is more. If you are going to replace it, It would be best to replace it with "Torah". I only added "instructions and message" as an aid to understanding. Or perhaps you could replace it with "Wisdom" as in Proverbs 8. If you want to know why "Word" was used, google Philo (a Hellenized Rabbi).

The Word was the pre-incarnate Christ Jesus. The second of the Godhead.
Nw your concept would ave us believing and the "Torah" was God....as per John 1:1

It is not Scripture but a defination of a word - Definitions matter. If you've created a new definition of the hebrew word "Messiah" or the Greek word "Christ" then we could not communicate without knowing what definitions are being used. At stated above; these mean "anointed" and are applied to Y'shua. Therefore if Y'shua is God, why would he need to be anointed?

Y'shua was anointed and appointed by YHVH to do a specfic work in HIS NAME. Because he did it, he was exalted to the right hand of YHVH.
Context does matter.....anointed, Anointed One, anointing.....see the difference?......context matter so what scripture are you quoting?.....or are you even quoting/referencing scripture?

Sad isn't it? The UK for centuries was a strong Christian nation, with Tyndale and others shedding their blood to translate the Scriptures (Hebrew and Greek) into English for the common man to read.
And through Satan's influence it has come to what the polls show.

Have you noticed that this kind of backsliding is most prominent in nations that featured established churches?
