HUMBLE YOURSELVES
1 Tim 2:8-13
8I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;
9in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing,
10but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.
1 Pet 3:3-4
3Do not let your adornment be merely outward-- arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel--
4rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
1 Cor 1:21
21For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.
1 Cor 1:25-29
25Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

27But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;
28and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are,
29that no flesh should glory in His presence.
Phil 2:5-8
5Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
6who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,
7but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.
8And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
James 4:6-7
6But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
7Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
James 4:10
10Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
1 Pet 5:5-7
5Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
6Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,
7casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Luke 16:19-31
19"There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day.
20"But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate,
21"desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22"So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.
23"And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24"Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.'
25"But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented.
26'And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.'
27"Then he said, 'I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house,
28'for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.'
29"Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.'
30"And he said, 'No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.'
31"But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.'"
James 2:1-9
1My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality.
2For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes,
3and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, "You sit here in a good place," and say to the poor man, "You stand there," or, "Sit here at my footstool,"
4have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?
5Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?
6But you have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you and drag you into the courts?
7Do they not blaspheme that noble name by which you are called?
8If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well;
9but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors.
11Let a woman learn in silence with all submission.
12And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.
13For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
Rev 3:17-22
17"Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'-- and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked--
18"I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.
19"As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
20"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
21"To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

Matt 19:21
21Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."

ADORN-DECORATE, BEAUTIFY
Luke 21:5-6
5Then, as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and donations, He said,
6"These things which you see-- the days will come in which not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not be thrown down."
Rev 17:3-5
3So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
4The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.
5And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
