There are several denominations that believe and teach that between death and resurrection that the body soul and Spirit sleep. Among these and most prominent are JW and SDA. People who do not believe in the Father, Son and Holy Ghost as the trinity do not realize that we ourselves are a trinity. (Paul said,"I pray your whole SPIRIT and SOUL and BODY be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ," 1 Thess. 5:23) The body contains all the senses, sight, hearing, touching, smelling and tasting. The spirit of man (our intelligence) is our reasoning, understanding, discovering, solving, either simple or complex (1 Cor. 2:11; John 11:33). The soul of man is the seat of emotions and affections like love, hate, sorrow and anguish (1 Sam. 18:1; 2 Sam. 5:8; Job 14:22; Luke 2:35; Psalms 107:26 Mark 8:36-37). Our Lord at Gethsemane (Mark 14:34)

DEATH, Nowhere in The Bible does it say that death is annihilation. The Bible speaks of three kinds of death. PHYSICAL DEATH: is separation of the spirit from the body. James says, "The body without the spirit is dead," James 2:26

SPIRITUAL DEATH, Means separation from God. Paul tells the Ephesians, "You hath He quickened, who were dead in your trespasses and sins." Eph. 2:1. And to Timothy he wrote, "She that liveth in pleasure is DEAD while she liveth. 1 Tim. 5:6.

ETERNAL DEATH, Is eternal separation from God with an everlasting punishment as the results of God's judgment. Rev. 21:8

Here is what Christ has done for us: We see Jesus (God) who became a little lower than the angels, (for a little while) for the suffering of death , that by The Fathers grace, that He should taste death for EVERY MAN, in whom he created all things. That He would be the captain of our salvation by suffering all things of men that He would be a better High Priest to sanctify us and being the Son of man and knowing our suffering, He was not ashamed to call us brethren. And He who sanctifies and those who were sanctified are the same, So that through His death, He might destroy him that had the power of death...the devil. And deliver them, who through the fear of death all their lifetime, subject to bondage, and to take them in whom were sanctified up above the angels with Him (Heb. 2:5-18) And our Spirit will forever be with the Lord unto the day of redemption (2 Cor. 5:8)

What Do Mormons Believe: The Nature of Man
1. The Mormon church teaches that humans exist as spirit beings before their birth.
2. At physical birth, bodies are given to these spirits. They are also given an opportunity for free-will choice. The physical world represents a period of probation. The status of a person in the afterlife is determined by the way that person lived his/her life on Earth. If the person lived by a satisfactory standard, (including the fulfillment of Mormon temple obligations) that person has the potential to become a god in the after-life.
3. The person can also produce "spirit children" to populate a world of his own (like God did with the earth).
4. In contrast, the Christian church holds that humans do not exist as spirits prior to being born into the world. Humans cannot attain godhood or populate other worlds with "spirit children."

What Do Mormons Believe: The Nature of Jesus Christ
The Mormon church views Jesus and Satan as spirit brothers and sons of God. God put forth His plan of salvation for the world, and Satan proposed his own plan. Jesus accepted the Father's plan and offered to implement it as the Savior. The Father chose Jesus, and the spirit of Jesus was given a body through the virgin Mary. He was crucified on a Roman cross, and rose from the dead three days later to establish His deity. The character and life of Jesus is attainable by anyone who performs at such a righteous level.

In contrast, biblical Christianity teaches that Jesus Christ has existed eternally as the Son of God, the second "person" of the Trinity (Colossians 1:15-18; John 1:1, 3). Jesus took on human flesh about 2000 years ago and was born into the world through the virgin Mary (Luke 2). He was crucified on a Roman cross for our sins (Romans 5:8), and rose from the dead three days later to establish His deity (Mark 16; 1Corinthians 15:13-17).

What Do Mormons Believe: How do we Achieve Salvation
The Mormon church holds that Jesus Christ overcame physical death and guaranteed physical resurrection to all mankind. However, spiritual death can only be avoided through personal obedience of God's commandments. Forgiveness of sins requires faith, repentance and baptism by an approved Mormon priest. The practice of baptism for the dead is an extension of this belief, in which Mormons are baptized in proxy for those who have died without proper baptism.

In contrast, the Christian church teaches that we are unable to live a life righteous enough to meet God's perfectly holy standard (Romans 3:23; 6:23). Therefore, we establish a relationship with God by faith in the work of Christ on the cross, not by our own works (Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5). Baptism and good deeds are acts of obedience to God, but not the means for gaining eternal salvation.

What Do Mormons Believe: Life After Death
The Mormon church maintains that although there is temporary punishment for those that are most wicked, Jesus Christ will establish a new kingdom that will consist of three levels: the celestial kingdom, the terrestrial kingdom, and the telestial kingdom.

In contrast, biblical Christianity holds that there are only two possible fates after death, heaven or hell. These locations are final, both physically and spiritually (Matthew 25:46).

The Mormon claims to be Christian as does the JW but both are of the Deceiver,
Hi Brother Bill, I Agree, but mainstream worldly Churches or the visible church are grouping these falsehood and self willed deceivers as Christians. Look at all the religious sects of different persuasions that do not recognize the authority of God's word but interpret what they do not understand (because of self will and pride) to fit their lying feeble minds, whose ending has been decided from the beginning. And these people are running our government, LDS, JW's, Muslims, Gays, the self serving, The unamerican, the, "I'm privileged and better than you and I deserve praise and my commands should be addressed promptly and without objection" or as the word of God puts it, " How much she hath glorified herself, and lived in luxury, So much sorrow and trouble give her, for she saith in her heart, I sit as a queen, and am no widow, and will see no sorrow. ( This is the Harlot, of the two Babylon's) Rev. 18:7). The ecclesiastical Babylon (Rev. 17:1) is to be destroyed by the political Babylon (Rev. 17:15-18) so that the political Babylon is the center of worship...Is anybody watching???

Very few of us in the Church Family even care today and today and the way we do not have Christian Discipline it is very distressing. The membership is so diluted that I'm amazed YHWH has not stricken it. I find it very disturbing and the Rapture cannot be far off.
