What do you / did you find are the good and bad points of being a teenager?

Good points? :biglol

[quote:20m1jft4]What were your teen years like?

that bad? care to share?

My teenage years... Hmm. I'm 17 right now

My life was great up until I hit 15. It was then I started becoming self-conscious, and very worried about the future. To this day I'm depressed. I think life sucks a lot. Jesus had said though "Those who do not hate their life will keep it, and those who love it will lose it."

I'm also lazy, with no work ethic. Which makes me very worried even more about the future. I have no street smarts, I can do almost nothing :sad I lack so much confidence it aint funny, I dont know how to interact with people, and I'm extra introverted.

The LORD is the only thing that keeps me partly sane.

The good? I technically dont HAVE to work. I can do a lot of leisuristic thing at the expense of my parents. :yes I can sorta do anything i want (though my anxiety keeps me from doing it).
Hm.. idk what else to say is good to be honest, lol. :oops

So, I haven't seen one teenager post how their life is going right now! It's all adults reminiscing! Allow me to be the first teenager to share how I'm going in my walk..

I don't particularly enjoy being a teenager, but I know it's better than being out on my own and having to pay bills and buy my own food. I haven't gone through any unique problems. I'm basically a typical teenager, but it's still difficult. I'm fourteen years old, and I'm at that age where my hormones are at their peak and I long for a relationship.

One of the things we teenagers struggle the most with right now is love. We all want it, and most of us are still naive to the point where we think that if we enter into a relationship, it will be perfect and the person we're with will never hurt us or make us angry, but just love us and make us happy all of the time. Most of my friends have had boyfriends and they've all had their first kisses and their first loves.

I have yet to experience my first kiss. I am in the midst of my first love right now, but he's a bit older (I wouldn't like to share the age difference), and he is in love with someone else. He knows how I feel, and having to see him and his girlfriend spend time together rips my heart apart.

We teenagers also deal with things such as peer pressure and cliques, but I have yet to experience either, so I don't feel I'm qualified to write on those topics.

Make sure you're careful!! Im 17, and obviously have not had my first true love either. Ive never even kissed a girl yet to be honest.

Jeremiah, I see so much in your post that I can relate to, so if you don't mind I'd like to share my opinion and some big-sisterly advice. :)

I've underlined some things that stood out to me. Why is it that you are so hard on yourself? Why do you tell yourself these things? Lazy? Can do almost nothing? Don't know how to interact with people? Do you really believe these things about yourself or has someone been telling you this? (by someone, I mean the enemy, Satan) I can tell by your posts already that you do know how to interact with people, so that's at least one lie you've bought into. I say it's time to stop the madness! :yes

Start now, today, by telling yourself the truth. Positively affirming your purpose in life through Christ Jesus. Putting on the full armor of God and blocking the devil's arrows of deception, discouragement and defeat. The devil wants you, oh how he wants you to feel unworthy and useless to the kingdom of God. But we can expose his lies for what they are, stumbling blocks to trip you into falling down.

Stand up, stand tall, stand firm and begin your life as God would have you live it. Free and strong and fearless.

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7)

As Rodney Dangerfield so aptly put it in "Back to School"...

''It's a jungle out there! So my advice is don't go. Live at home. Let your parents worry about it!''
:o :tongue

You sound like the firefighters that talk to my brother, who just got hired at the fire department. "Stay at home for a year, let your parents worry about all the bills, save your money!" :lol
:lol Hey, that firefighter might be onto something! ;) :biggrin
