"Believe ON Jesus" was how someone said "believe IN Jesus" 400 years ago in the Late Middle ENglish of the KJV.
The Modern English equivalent is "believe IN..."
They both mean the same thing.
Yes, this is how I see it. Actually, when I first saw the question I couldn't think of any difference. It seemed to be a different way to say the same thing.
