Anyone seen http://www.icej.org musical @ Israeli history - The Covenant ?


Seeing it @ International Pray 4 Jerusalem Day, after the live broadcast from there on http://www.God.TV made it very special, as it was performed & filmed there

Interview feature with the stars was very helpful: they had the same guy play Boaz, Joshua & Jesus, as the 1st 2 were very much prophetic pictures of the promised Messiah

Who Is He? - sung by the woman caught in adultery - was very powerful

As was the finale song @ the millenia-long hope of the Promised Land that sustained Jews thru so many persecutions in history

http://www.operationexodus.org.uk helps Jews migrate to Israel to escape the growing instances of anti-semitic attacks, as God promised special protection & preservation in the Holy Land

Master and Commander. Great mixture of action, peer/subordinate relationships, and leadership. Pretty much what you expect an 18th/19th century naval captain would have to deal with.
 
World War II movies are my favorite. Truly epitomizes good vs. evil. So much to choose from.... Band of Brothers, The Thin Red Line, Schindler's List, The Pianist, Saving Private Ryan, Flags of Our Fathers, Conspiracy, Enemy at the Gates, Pearl Harbour, The Longest Day, Midway, Tora, Tora, Tora, Patton, Big Red One.... and so many others.
 
With @ least 3 showery days forecast, I guess it's time to flag up all genres of..

Passion of the Christ, followed by Elizabeth-starring Cate Blanchett
 
I have yet to see the Passion of the Christ....but at the present rather am fond of A Night With The King...it is a fairly good portrayal of the Biblical Book of Ester.

I'll have to look that one up; it's one of my favorate Books of the Bible :)

You should definitely go out and get a copy of 'the Passion of the Christ'. Mel Gibson has done an amazing job. I'm a guy and that film has me in tears every time i watch it.
 
I am going to sound really uncultured but, my 2 favorite dramas are:

1. Braveheart
2. Legends of the Fall

I know a relationship is getting more serious when I mention number 2. Usually I am instructed to not mention that to anyone else. :) I am a sucker for that movie, I swear a tear wells up in me anytime I watch it.
 
uncultured? never! i havent watched Legends of the Fall but Braveheart is a brilliant choice :thumbsup

Legends of the Fall just brings melodrama to a whole new level :)
 
Braveheart is one of the best, along with The Patriot and Apocalypto.

like him or hate him, Mel Gibson knows how to make movies, and make them good.

Have not had the chance to see Apocalypto, but The Patriot was a good movie.

Mel does have a gift for making movies.

I will admit part of it is me working up the stomach for it....I feel faint and ill at the sight of blood.
 
BBC version of pride and prejudice - think the characters are true to the book. Love that series highly recommend it, even my husband loved it!!

Yes, it is extremely graphic with all the blood and torture. my sister found it very upseting but insisted that she wanted to keep watching till the end. its not a perfect rendition of the passion narratives but i feel it does bring home the reality of what Christ had to endure.

I would suggest a good way to view this is on your own which is how I first saw it. It made for an amazing quiet time with God and it was so moving that I felt free to worship how I wanted to with no one else present. It was so personal to me that movie that I couldn't watch it with anyone else around. Just a thought :)
 
My favorite was, and still is, the HBO series Rome.
While the actual history was somewhat truncated, the series did an excellent job of capturing the feel and cultural realities of theperiod.
All without overlaying modern moral contexts on the characters.
