Who thinks it's bad? I personally don't have a problem with it. But my mom despices it. I like black, not in a gothic way, but. What do ya think?

I'm guessing you're wanting to know if it leans towards being sinful. Well, it's not that. In fact, it's not anything other than a color, and colors are just there. They aren't good or bad. Personally, I think that black nail polish is rather ugly, but that's just my opinion. Now, if a person were to wear the black look to be gothic or Satanic or something, then yes, black has become bad, but the color itself, as nothing more than a color, with no symbolic meanings, is not bad. It's just a personal preference at that point.

You like it? That's good enough for me. Just don't obsess over it.

If you're not allowed to, then don't. It's nothing to die over.

I mean, sure it has Gothic connotations, but honestly, if you can make it work, it's not a problem. However, your mother has spoken, and you should honor her request. I'm sure you look beautiful just the same.

I have no problem with black nail polish. Sometimes it can look nice on the right person.

Girl4God: Like you, I also like the colour black - a lot. Luckily, my parents don't forbid me to wear it or to have black nail polish. I'm not a Goth or anything, I just look good in black and I like the colour.

I really appreciated how Cly had explained the whole thing. That made absolute sense! :biggrin

Someday you will thank your mother.
Back in the 1960's my cousin (then about 12 or 13 years old) insisted on wearing white lipstick. Now when she looks at photos from those days, she wants to know why no one took that away from her.

ok @girl4god this is what im going to say it is your life live it by the standards you think god wants you to live by dong always think what your told is right...

black nailpolish cant be sinful and no one can look like satan its an impossibility. Black is only a color nothing else because people beliee dressing "gothic" is evil because it is something that most clean cut suburbian homes are'nt used because of stories theyve heard from their friends about how goth is evil they automaticaly believe it they are afraid of things of a "gothic" or dark nature which is truly pathetic if your mom giving you the black nailpolish is evil bit just use common sense when discussing it with her a color cant be evil since it was technicaly made by God.

^ That, lol, was the longest sentence I've seen in a long time. ;-)

BTW, if we really want to get technical, black is not classified as a color. It is the absence of color. That in itself say something about the nature of black. 8-)

and does that mean its evil? People perceive it to be evil because of exactly what you just said "it is the absence of color"and people are not used to the absence of color or light we are afraid of darkness so we scrape at the edges of it with fire(lights).

No it doesn't make it evil, but it does give the appearance as being "of evil". Maybe God planned it that way. Maybe that is what HE is telling us here:

1 Thess 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Many of the things I once embraced as being ok when I was young I now despise.

Someday you will thank your mother.

There is wisdom with age... age does have it's advantages.

We need to remember another thing... at the time Girl4God wrote the OP, I assume she was still living under the roof of her mom. We should respect and honor any reasonable request from our parents. We are commanded to honor our father and mother.

The reason why it says abstane from things that appear evil is because it may influence you to be evil. Keyword "may" it is not guaranteed. If you have a strong will you wont be influenced. In my opinion people who are around evil and are not influenced by it are the ones with the strongest wills.

I have no problem with black anything, I dress in black or dark clothing the majority of the time, mostly because I enjoy the color and I look good in it.
Roku55, awesome post. I'm pretty sure I rocognized where the last part came from, was it a quote Rei in Evangelion?

Black Nail Polish does not have the appearance of Evil. It only has the appearance of Evil to those close-minded fundamentalists. By all means wear it if you like it. Evil is something you do like killing somebody or intentionally hurting another. If people can't tell the difference between Black Nail Polish and evil, then they are seriously mixed up. It is their fault not yours.

Hope I helped. :-D

my school colors are black and white so yeah it's cool with me... but black really doesn't look good on to many ppl...
