I never really cared for Brad Pitt, especially after he cheated on jennifer aniston.
Lots of people think he's attractive, but I dont...
 
Sounds like this is the end result of growing up in legalistic fundamentalism. Not all Baptists are like this, but from the article it sounds like his family and church were. So this is the typical end result for a lot of people that have that forced on them. Just for most people it happens about the time they are in High School. Of course, maybe it did for Brad too, and he's just now getting far enough past the fear and guilt to make it public.
 
I live in The Bible Belt ("1,000 miles wide; 1 inch deep"). SBC is a big part of the culture. I find that the more legalistic the family is, the more likely the kid is to rebel when they can...which goes double for preacher's kids.
 
Yeah...there's that, too. Hollywood isn't exactly Christian-friendly. And the people who pursue careers in Hollywood clearly drawn to that lifestyle.

Everything will be a factor in something like this. But there are so many people outside of the movie industry that have decided the same thing as he did after being subjected to legalistic fundamentalism that I don't think this is something we can blame on the movie industry.

I think when the majority of holly wood supports the liberal agenda it would be hard to rule it out. With all that aside Mr Pitt's relationship or non relationship with God is his. He can blame whom ever he chooses. I pray he sorts it out, I don't believe God will buy the sloughing off his relationship due to his father no more than Adam blaming Him.

Nope. He's not a 5 year old who can't make his own decisions. It's totally on him and God will hold him accountable. And the movie industry in California might be a liberal industry, but so is pretty much all of California. Yet I know a lot of solid strong Christians in California that have not fallen away from God and blamed it on their surroundings. A couple of them even work in the movie industry! We are all responsible before God for our own decisions and actions. I just wish more of the "holier than thou", "everything is a sin and you're going to hell" kind of fundamentalists would stop and take some responsibility for all the people they cause to stumble with their legalism.

I went through a thing where I was bitter about my fundamentalist upbringing for a bit, but I was surprised to learn that other fundamentalist churches were quite a bit more problematic than mine. Mine taught grace and all, literally it was just that my family was really strict about a lot of stuff and we were King James only. That was about the extent of it.

Actually the pornography industry is much more centered in the San Fernando Valley.
