The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16

We know that an earthly father wouldn't give his son a snake instead of a fish, or a stone instead of bread. The now much better will our heavenly father treat us? Sometimes, though the bread that He give us seems like a stone and the fish like a snake.

Almost every year around Christmas my grandparents gave each of us a little gift. Usually it wasn't anything big, but it was usually something practical. I wished I could have had more, but my grandparents knew better than I did what I needed.

In another case, a lady was on her way to pick up her husband and young son. As she thought of the strained relationships in the family, her tears flowed. Finally she pulled over and prayed earnestly about the matter. Fifteen minutes later her phone rang. It was her son informing her that his dad had fallen off a scaffold and needed to have x-rays taken. The lady stopped again and thanked God for answering her prayer so soon. She later learned that her husband would be off his feet for twelve weeks, which turned out to be plenty of time to mend relationships.

Sometimes God grant our request when and how we want it. Other times He give us something better Still other times He gives something that helps us obtain our request. In any case, God gives us what is best to fulfill His plan for us.

I'm reminded of my own prayer...to grow up, to be normal. I thought God would pull some kind of "Touched by an Angel" thing and I'd just be normal one day. I've been going through what I guess is a trial--there's certainly an element of persecution--and I'm beginning to see that The Lord *is* making me normal, tougher, more masculine, better able to handle life...by taking me through some stuff and having me rely more on Him (draw nigh unto me, I shall draw nigh unto you). I pray often. I've been praying a whole lot since repentance. Its a good thing.

So, yeah...I like your post. :)

Nice post, Sandy. Glad to see you back.

Sometimes we need to be stripped of everything in order to be still and know God only wants the best for us and I'm not talking about material things, but that of heavenly things.

Col 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Col 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Col 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Col 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
