I will see the film in the end, however It is not my sort of film due to the fact it is not a cowboy film. No shoot outs, no robbing of a bank or even, any cows or Indians. However, Even though I do not agree with the act of gays, I will not condemn it, neither will I cast films or people away, I have gay friends and they do not bother me, the lord gave them free will, and they have chose that right. Anyway to conclude, I think the film is good and deserves the awards, however not all this gays are wrong, its sin. HOW DARE ANYONE cast judgement on someone’s sexuality. It is not our job to judge, only god. Period.

Odd how people who call themselves christians not only are tolerate of homosexuality, they will go out of their way to support it also.
All in the name of open mindedness of course.
Do you think that you are building Gods kingdom and stewarding your money with integrity by helping to pay those producers big salaries? If Jesus lives in you then you would take him to see two men having sexual relations and feel fine about it?

I saw this movie, but I would never pay anything to see it. As it so happened, my public library had a copy of the DVD. As for supporting homosexuality, for me it demonstrated everything that is wrong with it. The one character's life amounts to looking forever backwards to 1964 and seemingly has no future plans, and the other turns out to be a cheap sleaze who marries for money and ends up in bed at every opportunity. This character Jack, eventually gets his face bashed in. Likely the result of hanging with roughnecks and making the move on the wrong person. In the end, two families are ruined and Jacks parents are left with only memories of what might have been. I would not recommend wasting any money on this movie. If you like scenery, get a tour guide DVD.

You missed the entire point of the movie, and took things out of context.

1. The reason why the character kept referring back to 1964, is because that was the only time he was truly happy.
2. Jack didn't marry for money, Jack just wanted to be loved, since Enos was to far away, he settled for who he could get. He married his wife, because he got her pregnant.
3. jack was killed because he was gay, that was the point, the entire movie is a social cometary on how the different are usually ostracized and forced to hide, and can even be killed for who they are.
4. The reason why the 2 families are in ruins, is because both Jack and Enos had to hide who they were, and commit to loveless relationships. Thats the social commentary again

The movie was supposed to show a love that couldn't be, that was its purpose. You watch these 2 character struggling to be "normal" but it ends up backfiring on them and brings them pain.

The movie doesn't show whats wrong with gay culture, it shows whats wrong with our entire culture. It wasn't a pro gay movie, it was a movie to give insight into the actual struggles of those who are different.

Heck there is only one gay sex scene in the entire movie, and it barely lasts 3 seconds. :nono

I'm sorry to necro this, but this needed to be said.

Edit: oops sorry guys, I thought this was a thread from June 2009 not 2006. I went back to see if there were any other watchmen threads and came across this. Sorry for digging this up. Just ignore it. :o
